I can see Ryan consulting with former OsU coaches and coaches that he’s worked with or for prior. But I’m sure all the opinions are taken, but Day realizes that none of these coaches deal with the same situation he has with NIL, the Portal, etc. And the fact that Day was brought in to modernize Urbans offense also factors in to how much Day takes away from Urban as well. And the same goes for if he consults with Tressel

Day may ask other coaches but it’s probably lip service . Day has changed he has all the answers.

That’s a fair question brother. And I think what may mitigate some of those HS losses are if he can land someone good in the Portal. But lets be honest, losing these 3, on top of DGG and even Spell is a BAD look.

If we don’t adopt the TE portal recruitment philosophy for RBs, we’re doing it wrong.

I think this has to be the way going forward. Why pay DGG 7 figures when you can pay someone in the portal somewhere close to that but, that RB has actually produced in college.

It seems like the staff didn’t want to match his offer. And it’s seemed to be a loud rumor that he hasn’t recovered from his ankle injury. If you notice this season, he hasn’t played much. Day and Lock didn’t seem to get the answers they wanted regarding why he hasn’t produced more.

Why recruit a RB when you can get your 4th TE of the class? How else we going to roll out our 50th best player on offense in 14 personnel?

Seriously though, we no doubt need to hit RB hard this portal. If we were going to give 1mil+ to DGG then we can go get the best RB in the country instead for that money.

I’m of the opinion we need coaching changes on offense but that’s me. I think Lock is a fun guy for about 2 minutes and then he’s just overwhelming IMO. I think Bowen is a great recruiter but the on field product has been sub par. Bailey and Billy have seen their rooms regress in the last 24 months too.

The WR play has been outstanding. Not because of JJ either but because all of them play hard. I notice the blocking now in a big way. I just think the offense needs a reset IMO.

For sure the we are going to need big splashes at RB, QB, then maybe a WR and one OL in the portal.

Defense is absolutely loaded next year. We’ll need to make sure we don’t lose too many on that side to the portal. Especially LB I think we’ll lose some kids due to a lack of playing time.

Operated that way myself, 'back in the day'. Ask people you trust for their opinion, more than one, then weight what they'd do against current conditions, personnel, etc. Ultimately your job/career depends on your decision. Father once told me you're doing well if you are correct 50% of the time, but you'd d*** well better not miss on the big decisions. Anyway, understand what Day is going through, and wish him well. He's being paid an obscene amount of money to make them, so we'll see how well these decisions come out.
