2027 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Ohio State will also host a pair of top prospects from Pennsylvania: Defensive end Abraham Sesay, the No. 79 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2027 class, and Gabriel Jenkins, a linebacker/safety ranked 261st overall who decommitted from Penn State after James Franklin’s firing in October.

With some more clarity on the OL pieces recently and positive developments elsewhere, the dream class is starting to take shape.
QB: Brady Edmunds
RB: David Gabriel-Georges - I think we get this one done. The crown-jewel and #1 overall target this class.
WR: Jamier Brown, Dakota Guerrant, Khalil Taylor, Bryan Porter - Taylor is Timmon’s teammate and friend. For Guerrant, UM will pay more, but he keeps saying scheme and development are important to him. I just don’t see us being able to afford Monshun Sales, unless he wants to come at a discount.
TE: Brock Williams - We will get this done in 2-3 weeks. D’Angelo White - with Brock being a receiver type, I think we go with the bigger blocking type for the other in-state TE. I’m not worried he hasn’t visited this fall.
OT: Kellen Wymer, Brody McNeel, Dewey Young - I’m intrigued that he’s making a 2nd visit within a month back here. Could be Jimmy Kalis here too.
IOL: Mason Wilt, Davis Seaman, Reed Ramsier - Will be a battle for Ramsier, but I think we get it done.
Edge: Mekai Brown, Abraham Sesay - Brown will be a 5* by the end of the cycle. He attended a game as a fan two yrs ago. We will pay up for a big-time Edge. Sesay, I think we take advantage of PSU coaching change.
Hybrid: Reinaldo Perez
DT: Karlos May - We continue to the Birmingham pipeline at DT, Nate Kamba - LJ’s first offer this class at the position.
LB: Quinton Cypher - We get this closed out in a few weeks. Blake Betton - He’ll get offered this weekend. Any number of guys for this 2nd spot, but Coach L’s MN connection works here.
Hybrid OLB: Roman Igwebuike - Our Arvell role guy.
CB: Keishjuan Telfair - We finally break the in-state CB drought. Danny Lang - kid wants to be a Buckeye
NB: Angelo Smith
FS: Kaleb Elkins
SS: Eli Johnson

No Kalel Johnson?

Yeah forgot to add him. Perhaps Wymer or McNeel kick inside. Johnson is certainly a longer term guy, as he needs a lot of development. I really want Dewey Young in this class.

Ohio State sniffing around top-ranked Minnesota wide receiver recruit

David Mack has produced eye-popping numbers for the Moorhead Spuds, who are in the state championship game against Edina.

David Mack will play for the Class 6A state title on Friday night as the Moorhead Spuds meet the Edina Hornets at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Last Friday, Mack scored on a five-yard slant to help Moorhead secure a spot in the Prep Bowl with a 26-14 win over Lakeville South. Then he traveled to Columbus, Ohio, where he visited Ohio State University and met with the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes.

It's unclear how much interest the Buckeyes have in Mack, as it doesn't appear that he's been offered a scholarship by Ohio State. However, the Gophers were the first FBS team to extend an offer to the junior wide receiver.

Last season, as a sophomore, Mack caught 70 passes and 18 touchdowns. This season, he's blown those numbers away. In the regular season (eight games), Mack had 76 catches for 1,044 yards and 17 touchdowns. In four playoff games, he's totaled 38 receptions for 450 yards and eight touchdowns.

Add it all up, and Mack has 112 catches for 1,494 yards and 25 touchdowns this season.

According to 247Sports, the only offers Mack has received so far are from Minnesota and South Dakota State.

Ohio State, Ryan Day just entered the race for a Minnesota WR making waves

Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes have entered the fray for this Minnesota wide receiver.

Give it time, and things will surely work out. One of the things that the Ohio State Buckeyes have done better than seemingly everyone under Ryan Day's watch is recruit the best wide receivers in the country. It does not matter what part of the country they hail from, Ohio State is always closing. Yes, it absolutely helps that offensive coordinator Brian Hartline is the very best at what he does in this, too.

One such player the Buckeyes seem to a keen eye on is an unranked 2027 recruiting prospect from Minnesota in David Mack. The Moorhead, Minnesota native will be playing for a Class 6A State Championship on Friday night in Minneapolis. After helping the Moorhead Spuds win last Friday night, he made his way to Columbus to see the Buckeyes demolish the UCLA Bruins during Big Ten play.

With him getting a photo op with his primary recruiter Hartline, could this mean Mack is now well on his way to Columbus in 2027? Then again, what happens if Hartline gets to lead his own program before the time Mack can enroll in college? Let that sink in... Regardless, Ohio State showing interest in a recruit who only has offers from home state Minnesota and South Dakota State speaks volumes.

Clearly, the big winner in all this is Mack, who could use this Ohio State visit to his advantage here.

Ohio State has a reputation for being Wide Receiver U in college football

For a program like Ohio State that tends to know what it is doing when it comes to evaluating a certain position group, to the victors go the spoils. In a way, maybe the Buckeyes used the Minnesota offer Mack had as a way of knowing that he can play in this league? It stinks for a team like Minnesota, as the Golden Gophers just are not as well-resourced as Ohio State. Then again, who really cares?
