2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

See how that could apply, but was thinking more of the two that went Clemson, and the one that went Alabama. Believe all top 10 in Ohio? Anyway, am happy that many of those kids are finding solid D-1 homes, and wish them the best.

Latest Wiltfong whiparound

Savion Hiter: All business on his recruiting trips. Good visit to Georgia. Fong says Tennessee and Michigan are out in front from his intel. Doesn’t rule out Ohio State. Good relationship with Locklyn.

PJ Dean: Coming off a visit to Georgia. RPM is on Ohio State but South Carolina and Georgia are players.

Xavier Griffen: Fong likes where Bama stands. Texas is the dark horse. Mentioned the Horns would treat him like a first round pick and spend big to get him

Richard Wesley: still likes Oregon

Favour Akih: silently committed in the spring

Fong claims we’re taking 2 backs. Dialogue remains strong with Hiter and Cooper

Drew Evers: RPM. OSU will be hard to beat.

Khary Wilder: RPM. OSU setting the tone

Breck Kolojay: Miami or Georgia

If Birm's PJ Dean intel ends up being true, we are still tracking towards an awesome DT class.
Emanuel Ruffin, Jamir Perez, and Deuce Geralds is my current prediction.
We are a much more serious contender for Ruffin than people realize.

Would be a fantastic haul.

The first part pertains to Luke Wafle, and the rest refers to the current state of NIL:
From what I've heard the USC money is now over 2mill.

That's absurd and obviously Ohio State isn't going to match it. No one in the recruiting industry can really figure out where USC is getting this money or how they're planning to live up to their promises.

Ohio State is operating under the pretense they have 14ish million dollars for its football roster based on the House Settlement and the 18 million number is the same for everyone. Between Elbert Hill (at least 1 mill), Wafle (2 mill), Pepe (2 mill) and Mark Bowman (9+ mill) what the Trojans are doing just makes zero sense. They have 30 commitments and four other defensive ends already committed. Either they're going to be starting 22 freshman in 2026 or they're going to forcing a lot of kids out. Desperation is a stinky cologne and Lincoln Riley is clearly very, very desperate.

I know that there were rumors that Penn State and UCLA were the schools that recently were linked to private equity firms and I wonder if USC has found some money that way that's going into the collectives. Collectives are supposed to be dead but USC seems to be funneling money through one of those and setting up a "go ahead and try to stop us" battle with the courts after July 1.

It's the smart play.

Someone was going to do it.
The gray area, is that the money being offered needs to be paid before they're actually students at the college, so USC still has until January for the early enrollees to raise the money for their NIL. Now it's a HECKUVA gamble, because if USC has another 8 win season, how many of these kids stay regardless of the bag :roll2:
