Yeah, I've thought this since Knowles took the job, and I started looking at the way he runs his defenses. He mainly uses 2 LBs, and I said early on that if OSU signs 3LBs in a class, then that is the cap. The interesting part though, is there will be a number of HS LBs, who will be signed but then converted into the Jack(if we finally get to see it used). So in essence, OSU could sign 3 in '25, but Hill is probably going to be moved down similar to Reese in '24. So '25 would sign 2 actual LBs, which is fine for the scheme, as the room can get crowded quickly and guys will sprint to the Portal when they don't see any actual PT(besides ST) by year 3.These LB recruits have gotta look at tOSU's defensive scheme, losing one of the traditional LB sets. Bringing down a S to cover the TE or extra WR appears to be a solid iteration to the traditional LB sets, so reduces the potential to see the field by 1/3. Can anyone recollect how many times tOSU lined up three LB across, that didn't involve moving Sonny down? Not something I paid attention to, unless in run situations, and with the Buckeyes DL, seemed that splitting the TE out to the sideline was the more important defense needed. Anyway, believe there's enough LB strength in the pipeline anyway, so maybe not as critical a fix this year.
