It is good but I’d be more jazzed on it if it wasn’t a WR. Our inability to close at other positions is in a real bad down trend

I hate to agree with this but I do. We have an abundance of riches at WR and dearths at DL and OL which are the foundations of every football team. And they also happen to be the most obvious areas where we are getting whipped the past 3 years.

Something has to change.

LJ has had a legendary run and deserves all the respect for that. But OSU will pay a big price for the last 2 years of whiffs.

Yep and the ones he has gotten he’s failed pretty badly in developing, unless we do well in the portal at DL any team with a somewhat capable OL in going to have their way with us.

Yep…..and anything more than 2 losses should mean huge changes to the program. Day has had elite talent all around yet managed to get 1 playoff win and 2 BigTen titles in 5 years. I like Day and I hope he can be a superstar coach….and it looks promising….but what is holding him back is his continued delay on making the tough changers.

2019 - all is well, the future is bright
2020 - embarrassed by our D performance vs Bama……Saban would have fired Coombs there and then
2021 - D let us down again and again…..finally he pulls the trigger
2022 - DL recruiting starts to tumble and it’s clear that LJ retirement / obsolescence is an issue
2023 - DL recruiting possibly nosedives…..change probably made after bowl game….too late to salvage an epic class

Day will be a superstar but he seems to be waiting too long to make changes

I wouldn't say this. Day doesn't seem to make changes to the staff until after the Season is over.... it's not over until after the Cotton Bowl game. Combs was an anomaly, hell 2020 was an anomaly so I think he moved on pretty quick when it was clear in 2021... once the Cotton Bowl is over if the staff looks the same going into next year ... then I'll break out my torch, because I've already got my pitchfork out...
