This could go in the NIL thread, but I’ll tie it to 2023 recruiting.

Also from EJ Holland which we will all not be shocked by

The agent/attorney that brokered the Jaden Rashada deal worth more than 9 mil was asked which schools were doing NIL the best, which I’m assuming means are willing to pay well.

He listed:

Michigan State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Texas and Miami.

MSU making a somewhat surprising appearance here lines up with the Chase Bisontis recruitment. First, Birm pointing out very early on that 1) Ohio State is not offering up front NIL cash offers to entice players and 2) this is the explanation for a player consistently listing Ohio State as a favorite but never making it to campus (he likely only heavily implied this to be the case rather than saying it directly; I don’t remember exactly).

This is exactly what Bisontis did, with many fans being particularly perplexed when he made the trip to MSU without swinging by Columbus.

Well…

And to be clear, I’m not casting aspersions on Bisontis or anyone else. It’s just a new factor to keep in mind when following recruiting these days.

This could also be a main reason to why the staff seems to have no interest in Cormani McClain, though he's dropped the most obvious hints known to man in wanting OSU to pursue him

According to the 11W board, the entire South Florida Express squad made it to Columbus together other than McClain, so it fits the pattern in that regard, although they also say he was flying out of a different airport and had flight problems, so who knows.

I do believe that in order for Ohio State to start pursuing McClain, he needs to show some effort/interest outside of social media (and other than other recruits mentioning him, I don’t know that he’s even done that).
