2020 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

The fact we have a big time recruit like Johnson makes up for anything IMO... he's probably the best OL recruit we've had in the past 20 years.
Have 1 superstar and a bunch of other starters only works on D line, where one guy can command a double every snap and allows less talented guys more opportunities.
On the O line the weak link breaks the chain every time. You need 5 studs.
That said, O line is a bitch to recruit and work ethic can beat out raw talent. Hope the coaches found 5 guys that want to work their asses off.

It's the hardest position to recruit, guys develop extremely late, and average to bad OL are not useful (unlike an average DB, RB, LB that can be quality contributors on special teams)

Not to mention that when these kids are in high school they are going most weeks against a kid they outweigh 50 plus lbs and are four inches taller. They can pick up bad habits by just being so much bigger. And top that off with some of them do not get many pass pro reps and they just aren't as ready to play early and it is harder to predict if they will ever pan out for certain.

Wypler is a blue chip prospect too. If we hit on 3 of the 6, I'll consider it a very good OL class.

Ok and we also got Wypler (spelling?) and then also got Harry Miller the cycle before.

That also doesn't include players like the kid we flipped from PED who's a 4 star and others too. Remember some of our best OL have been 3 stars.

Two easy answers:

1). Location - the talent within a five hour radius of Atlanta is absolutely phenomenal.
2). Draft Day - like it or not, Dawgs get drafted by alot of NFL teams.

Belicheck has personally come to Athens to work out players each of the past three seasons. Recruits see the best coach in Football spending that much time evaluating (and drafting) talent and it makes a difference.

You don't have to tell me we have had some disappointments. Look at my last four years of posting to get a better handle on that.
But there is a very, very easy explanation for why kids choose Georgia.

so why do y’all not win any titles?

We also got a top 2 C the year before Miller in Matthew Jones. He should help depth as well
