tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Really doesn't mean as much as it used to with the portal

Yea I think Top 10 is good enough with how the top schools are pretty jumbled together with nobody being able to really hoard tons of elite players anymore. The real ware is going to be who can retain and develop those next wave of players the best

All things considered, losing out on a WR (or two) was expected when BH announced. I'm glad that it was done day of / before kids sign. I'd hate to be 'that' kind of program (sorry Mike Webber). Losing out on Bay... would have loved to have him but RBs in the portal will be easy.

Find someone who can replace as much of Hartline as they can and move on.

Candidly, he's less dangerous to us at a HC at a lower tier program than he would have been as a WR coach or OC for someone that we'll potentially see in Nov - Jan each year.

I hope recruits understand that when they become a starter and a star at tOSU, nil will come.

Case in point, do you want to be underwood, who may be used up and destroyed with some money, or Sayin, who gets protected, developed, and set for a long and prosperous future?

The problem with this logic is what if you don't become a star in college? Then you've missed your opportunity to get paid.

It's not a problem, just a perspective. Certainly legit, particularly if you believe you are faking toughness and excellence.
How many guys have we seen get their careers detailed by injuries? This sport can be unfair. Some of these guys are looking are an amount of money that can change their lives. It's an enormous risk to take. I won't begrudge any athlete who is unwilling to accept the risk.

All the more reason to go to a place that can protect you. Money means performance. Compare Dylan Raiola, underwood, even Nico to Sayin’s career.

It’s not like buckeyes are cheap. This is their life, their decision, we have no right to judge them. It’s just some decisions are smarter than others.

Then again, it’s not like Oregon is that much worse. Both decisions would be sound.

This. I’m sure I’m not the only one who lived with some of these guys while at tOSU. Speaking of unfair, watching a 18-19 year old barely be able to get out of bed and need ice baths to walk some days… without NIL, that’s unfair. Glad they get a chance to get paid above the table.
