I don’t know where exactly to put this, but I find the offer to Ryan Montgomery (https://247sports.com/player/ryan-montgomery-46117074/) interesting.

Offering an in-state QB that early is way outside of what you would normally expect from Ohio State; for Danny Clark-based reasons.

However, I think Ohio State is less concerned in this situation because

1) Montgomery is the younger brother of someone they want in the ‘23 class (https://247sports.com/player/luke-montgomery-46093573/)

and

2) things are lining up nicely with Jadyn Davis (https://247sports.com/Player/Jadyn-Davis-46085247/) in the ‘24 class, so locking up a really good Ohio QB in ‘25, almost no matter where he ends up projecting by the time he’s college-ready, fits perfectly for what they need.

If Ohio State lands Jadyn Davis in ‘24, anything on the level of Kenny Guiton would be great in ‘25, and it seems like a good bet that Montgomery will hit, if not vastly exceed, that mark.

WINNER: OHIO STATE
10689425.jpg

It was a star-studded list of visitors for Ohio State on Saturday with five uncommitted five-stars in attended: edge rusher Omari Abor, safety Xavier Nwankpa, 2023 running back Richard Young, 2023 quarterback Dante Moore and 2023 safety Sonny Styles.

The group of four-stars on hand for the 33-24 win over Penn State was just as impressive with defensive tackle Hero Kanu, safety Zion Branch, edge rusher Caden Curry, offensive lineman Earnest Greene, 2023 wide receiver Carnell Tate, 2023 running back Justice Haynes, 2023 linebacker Jaiden Ausberry, 2023 defensive lineman Kayden McDonald, 2023 offensive lineman Luke Montgomery and 2023 wide receiver Zachariah Branch all immersing themselves in a sea of red.

Three of the nation's top 2024 quarterbacks – Jadyn Davis, Adrian Posse and Dylan Raiola – visited, as well. So did 2024 wideout Jeremiah Smith.

On top of all the targets, the Buckeyes were also able to get a majority of its No. 4-ranked 2022 recruiting class out to Columbus for the night. That meant five-star linebacker C.J. Hicks,Top247 wide receiver Caleb Burton, Top247 offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola, Top247 wide receiver Kyion Grayes, Top247 running back Dallan Hayden and Top247 wide receiver Kaleb Brown got to bond and do a little recruiting for Ohio State.

Bottom line?
Ryan Day and the Buckeyes had the best visitors list over the weekend and it wasn't even close.....:banger:

Just sayin': Let the BOOMS begin.....

Things are looking god for Davis in '24, but offering Raiola in '24 makes things interesting as well because there's so much time left before their classes sign.

DAY REFLECTS ON RECRUITING WEEKEND

“It was a long week and a long weekend, for sure,” Ryan Day told reporters Tuesday. “There was a lot going on. The night in general was off the charts. It was first class and it was great for recruits and their families to see that. But yeah, there’s a lot to juggle on a weekend like that with so many visitors and families. They’re a priority for us when they get on campus, but we also have to go win against Penn State and win the game. But that’s college football, you have to be able to juggle a lot of balls and handle it.”

While Day understands the importance of big recruiting weekends, he stressed they’re not necessarily a make or break for every player.

“It’s just a piece of the puzzle and part of the relationship building,” Day said of the gameday visits. “Any time you come on campus, you get to see something different. Whether it’s meeting someone from the business school, or going to a basketball game, spending time with a position coach, seeing campus, whatever that is, coming to a game is a special experience. It’s another box these guys are able to check off with their families. I have to give credit to (Assistant Athletic Director, Player Personnel) Mark Pantoni and all his staff, they’re the ones that are behind all of that organization and managing all of those people, and there’s a lot to that.”

With the portal, ESD is no longer as important. aTm can get all the 5star talent, I’d prefer to plug in talent that already been in college systems with top HS talent. It’s a new frontier folks, we can lose Brooks to UT one day and land a starter or a player from the 2 deep of another school who’s body is already college ready.
