tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I was actually hoping one of our guys would grow into that 1 technique and really hammer it down. Maybe he's on the roster and we just don't know it yet?
Hill and Munger are both perfectly capable, highly rated guys with game experience, who can hold down the one technique.

Robert Landers, Davon Hamilton and (eventually) Dre'Mont Jones and Jashon Cornell are all possibilities as well.

A lot of you are star crossed. Ohio State will be just fine.
OSU has had a very good D line the past 2yrs since LJsr has starting coaching at OSU. He's coached in a whopping 2 losses in 2yrs, and the D line hasn't been the problem in either loss, IMO. I think well be fine. Just because the players being named haven't produced, YET, doesn't mean it can't still happen. The 2014 team was led by a number of inexperienced guys, and last year we saw our D line step up against a high powered ND offense, and when it came down to it, they stepped up when the lights were on. Sit back and let LJsr do his job

Getting Lawrence would have given us a great option at 1-tech next season, but we've still got a good group.

Hamilton (1)
Alabi (1)

Hill (1 or 3)
Landers (1 or 3)
Barrow (1 or 3)

Sprinkle (3)
Munger (3)
Jones (3)

Thompson (3 or 5)
Cornell (3 or 5)
Bosa (3 or 5)

I get the feeling we're going to see a rotation of Hill, Landers, Sprinkle, Jones and Munger. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bosa get some looks at DT in the rushmen package as well.

Based on everything LJ has said, Munger is strictly a 3. He didn't a single rep at 1 during the Fiesta Bowl and was single-block pancaked badly on a couple plays. It's a little surprising because he takes up so much space, but he's more of a long guy than a stout NT type. When asked about the NT spot during, LG said something like "Michael Hill is a guy who can play there, and we've been really impressed with what Robert Landers has shown lately as well"

We currently have 2 of the top players in Florida right now! That's very good. But If we should land one or both Bruce or Camp we will have had a historical year in Florida as both are in the Top 10 Florida Recruits.
That would be almost unheard of! It would be huge! And there's Becker out there also.

Agreed! And what's also big, is the HS the FL kids are from that we got. STA, is an amazing athletic school but it is academically as well! Also tapping into the Good Counsel kids is also big. Starting pipelines or at least getting our foots in the door at those schools is huge!

The Big Board 1/24 edition (in my IMO only):

Jordan Fuller
Sam Bruce
Malik Harrison (if there is room, which it sounds like there is)
1 of Rodjay Burns/Carlos Becker
1 of Jamar King/Keyshon Camp/Karamo Dioubate

Anyone else to consider?

The importance of maintaining a great relationship with STA cannot be overstated, however...especially with the number of STA kids with OSU offers. I imagine STA coaches understand the reality of OSU's situation, but the kids may not see it the same way.
The crux of the problem is that you can't say 'no' to either player; I'm guessing they take both.
