I know some have said give it to Scott, let him use his speed to get down the court. But I can't think of one time in four years when Scott has made a positive play at the end of a half or game, the play has failed every time and sometimes been rather poorly executed. So I think Russell was definitely the right guy to give the ball to there, just bad execution on that particular play.

I suggested giving it to Scott as a backup plan. With less than 5 seconds, you don't have a lot of options. You either need to make a long pass, or you need to give it to one of your guys who can get up the court quick enough to get off a decent shot and DAR and SS are the only 2 who could possibly do that. DAR clearly should have been option #1. When I mentioned SS being our best shooter off the dribble, I hope it was clear that I meant after DAR.

Fair enough that I can't assume the coaches had the players prepared by practicing these scenarios. The organized teams I have played on practiced them in the preseason, but always spent a few minutes on last second situations at the end of practice the day before each game. IF the players weren't prepped for this scenario, then I put it all on the coaches.
