Lots of thoughts here that I'll respond upon, but I'll go stream of consciousness for now. First, JT is the reason I follow recruiting so closely, I love to see a performance like that after how big he was billed as a recruit...the coaches are right that he was playing great but wasn't showing on the stat sheet, but sheet he made up for lost time today. I thought back to Joey Bosa dominating PSU and thinking there couldn't be a better encore, but there it was. I don't know if I've seen a more dominant defensive performance in the S&G, but that's not hyperbole given his game today and I'll have to mull it over.
Second, the OL and Stroud stepped it up in a very tough environment when it mattered. How we keep winning in Happy Valley makes me grin from ear to ear.
Third and in a similar vein, as much as I hate Ped State, their fans brought it today and so did their coaches and players. Won't be getting any likes on that one, but credit is where credit is due. Other than the helmet slap from the PSU TE, that was a clean game and I think a well fought game.
Fourth and related to point 3 above, there should be a lot of damn pride in this win. PSU threw the kitchen sink at us this game in every aspect and had the ball bounce their way for most of the way. Yet our players took the win themselves through their own performance despite those obstacles. That's a gut check if one ever existed, and we will be a better team.
Fifth and finally since I'm out to a high-end Halloween happy hour, great adjustments in the second half on offense. But please, please, PLEASE... eliminate that screen to Egbuka and RB toss to the short side of the field from a potential play call. It hasn't worked nor ever will. Combined it's become the new DAVE. Push the vertical pass game, trust Stroud and all his targets, and all will be well.
Actually sixth and for real I'm done, my neighbors all need hand written apology letters after the level of noise that I created from my home today. My dog maybe, but he gets a treat every time we score, so I'll count that.
Thank you and your welcome until next year Pedsters.
