Game Thread tOSU @ Minnesota, Nov 15th @ 12p ET, ABC/WatchESPN

Everyone is predicting a run-heavy gameplan; which it will likely lean towards because of Urban Meyer's general philosophy. I wouldn't be surprised a bit to see us air it out quite a bit, as well. I'm not sure if people are forgetting that we still have a RS Frosh at QB and perhaps a serious shot at the playoffs. JT has been impressive but tOSU still could use a lot more reps in the passing game. Our running game will (should) always be there. Now and next week are the only chances to iron out the kinks before TTUN, B1G CCG, and bowl game(s). I don't think the coaches are going to pound it out for an easy victory. These are some very valuable real game reps before it's time to "just win, baby".

Having said that... JUST WIN, BABY!
Everyone is predicting a run-heavy game plan because TWC is predicting a high of 24. If they were predicting a high of 54 (or even 44) I think we would see a lot more passing in the game plan. As it is we will probably see just enough to keep the defense honest, including some deep completions.

I think wind has more effect on the passing and kicking games than cold. It's going to be cold in Ohio this week too. Highs in the 30's, lows in the 20's at night. It's not like we are coming from Florida and they are in the arctic circle. So, this weather thing is probably being overblown, but I do think wind and/or snow could be factors.

For all those Gophers I suspect are peeking over here: It doesn't matter whether we respect Minny or not - has no impact on the game whatsoever. What Buckeye players and coaches have rolling around in their heads does. They seem to respect all of their opponents. Our coaching staff does a great job of seeing where they have good match ups, exploiting weaknesses, and coming up with great game plans on both sides of the ball. The players execute those plans with varying degrees of success. Against MSU, they appeared to do exactly what they had planned to do.

I say this as a matter of fact: Ohio State has the better athletes, more speed in particular, and the more accomplished coaching staff. That puts Minny at a significant disadvantage.

Minny has the home field, and maybe the weather could work to their advantage by making OSU one dimensional and/or leading to turnovers. Any chance of winning against the Buckeyes will involve turnovers at bad spots on the field. On the other hand, the weather could do the same to Minny.

The biggest advantage the Gophers have is their overall record against the Bucks. What? 7-43, or something like that, going back to 1921? The Gophers are due, but otherwise:

56-14 good guys.

I really like the edge this team has. Their growth and improvement from week 2 is amazing. Right now, it is very, very good to be a Buckeye........

A bad loss early in the season, combined with the stereotype of a weak B1G might keep them out of the playoffs, but there isn't a team out there who wants to play this team right now - or in the Bowl season.

I fail to see how being 2-36 since 1969, with an 1-18 record both home and away, is any type of an advantage. There's no such thing as "being due". There's a reason why the series is so lopsided...

55-17, Buckeyes.

JT accounts for 3 TDs - 3 passing, 1 rushing.
Cardale Jones comes in, in the 3rd quarter and gets himself some love with a TD.
Eze gets 2 on the ground, Samuel rushes gets himself 1 as well.
2 Field Goals.

According to a report I saw 2 days ago, Minnesota is expected to set a record for the most days with sub-freezing temps in the month of November. This cold front is moving in and has dropped the temp here in SB by 12 degrees in the last hour or so.

Say what you will but there are certainly some younger players on this team that have never experienced any weather like this in their lives. The ball will have a different feel to it. HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL!!!!!! Hits may have a little more sting to them. It is better to INFLICT than RECEIVE!!!! IMO a fast start is needed in this one. The enthusiasm has to stay constant. Get a nice lead, and get some other guys much needed playing time.

52-10 Buckeyes.

Even more one-dimensional than Navy? Wow. Bring the safeties to the line and stuff these guys!
Maybe not quite that heavy but close... Minnesota won't throw the ball more than 10 times if the game is close.

If we can get up 2 scores it'll be over because we will not face a lesser accurate QB then leidner. Start fast and it'll be over by halftime...

The defense has got to show no regard for their passing game because to be honest I'm not confident we can get the job done with 7 in the box (actually i know we can't)

Looking at the Gopher's depth chart, it appears that only 7 starters are from the state of Minnesota - 4 of them on the Oline. Additionally, the QB, HBack/TE & Long snapper...... there are 9 listed among the second teamers. They've got starters from Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Florida, Mississippi, California and Ohio.......when you hear the talking heads trying to say Minnesota has an edge due to the cold, you know better.

Also listed is former Buckeye Olineman Brian Bobek; a RS JR from Illinois. He is listed as the 2nd team center......Ohio players in the 2 deep include: Antonio Johnson (Free Safety from Shaker Heights) & De'Niro Laster (LB from Cleveland Hts),
