It's not what Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith had on his "to-do" list, but he may be re-evaluating discipline policies after another OSU football player lands in hot water.
This time it was a fight at a bar, and with the headlines coming one after another OSU can't help but hear the football fans wondering out loud whether the program is out of control.
Police had already broken up the fight twice at the Blues Station nightclub. On the third time they charged OSU junior defensive tackle Tim Schafer with disorderly conduct.
This comes right on the heels of the arrests of running back Erik Haw for marijuana possession and kicker Jonathan Skeete for drug trafficking.
OSU officials say coaches talk to the players all the time about their conduct, staying out late and substance abuse. They tell them there are consequences for those who violate the policy.
Since Jim Tressel took over, the list of players charged with crimes has grown to 15. Three of them were kicked off the team, while some, but not all of the others, received suspensions.
The student athlete handbook clearly addresses what is not allowed, but in many cases leaves open what, if any, disciplinary action should be taken.
Former Buckeye linebacker Chris Spielman says players have to accept they're under a microscope.
"Let's be realistic; the rules are different and if you don't want to live by those rules and that responsibility, and it's easy for me to stand here and say this, I tell them, 'Go somewhere else and play, I can't have it,'" says Spielman.
OSU Spokesman Steve Snapp said the issue does have the attention athletic director Gene Smith and that there is an ongoing discussion about policy and discipline, but he stopped short of saying that changes are in the works.
10 Investigates found yet another student athlete in trouble. There is an arrest warrant out for OSU football player T.J. Downing, issued after he failed to appear on numerous driving-related charges including driving without a license.
