Game Thread tOSU @ Illinois, Sat 11/14 @ 12pm ET, ABC

The problem is that Cardale struggled against an equally good defense last week yet people (not saying you) wanted JT. Now I think the offense looks slightly better, but it isn't by much imo.

To me it was the Illini pass rush plain and simple. If they lean on ZEKE a little more in the first half I think they get another TD. MSU has a very good one too, so they'll have to figure it out this week.

Because we all just watched Alabama demolish an LSU team with talent that is far far superior to anyone on Illinois. That is who we will quite possibly be facing if we make it into the playoffs, and like it or not, that is to whom our comparisons will be made.

If we are struggling like this against Illinois' front seven, how do you think a game against Alabama or Clemson will go?

you people are all conveniently forgetting that these speed bumps that everyone has to navigate every week are legitimate D1 football programs with legitimate talent at several positions. just because the composition of OSU's roster might each individually outperform their counterparts does not mean in any fashion that they will perform as a unit more efficiently. they are two entirely different subsets of the problem.

There is nothing wrong with calling out mediocrity and areas for improvement - it's how you get better. Alabama did that after their tight games against Ole Miss and Tennessee, and they're much better for it.

and the post i quoted is not "calling out mediocrity." it's whining that they aren't fucking NFL players functioning as a professional unit at 18 and 22 years old, when they're still blowing out a shitty team on the road after a ton of mistakes. they aren't having the best day but they are by no means fkn mediocre: look at the records and look at the statistics. it's unrealistic expectations of fans that have no concept of a proper sample size, and it makes reading the updates in the gameday threads miserable with everyone and their "team is so bad", "can't watch, turning it off", "they're so average" nonsense.

Umm.... we struggled in the pass against the #25 national team passing efficency defense. Oh nooooo!

I'm sure Meyer walked into the team meeting and said, "hey guys despite being the #33 scoring defense, and #25 total defense - this is illinois and they are garbage because their name is illinois and they are 5-4" lol

If you want to think this offense is just going to waltz into MSU, Michigan and potentially Iowa and put up points, that's your prerogative.

This Illini team is NOT good. This defense is good based on the shit teams they've played. When they did play teams with a pulse they GOT Blown out. 48 points to UNC, 39 to PSU.

Nah Beck seems content to fuck around some more. Apparently fucking around the entire game wasn't enough.
10 games in and it is the same shit week after week. Is there a game plan, because it doesn't feel like there is? We move the ball well and then we throw in some stupid shit play that hasn't worked all year and the sputtering starts. The first series, prior to the goal line, was probably the best series all game...
