Game Thread tOSU @ Illinois, Sat 11/14 @ 12pm ET, ABC

50% larger margin of victory is ok, I guess. If you suck.

The comparisons to FSU 2014 are extremely lazy, and becoming cliche.

Ohio State in Big Ten play:
Points for = 226 -- first in conference
Points against = 89 -- second in conference (and second in nation)

Average score in conference: 37.67 - 14.83
Average score in all games: 36.4 - 13.8

(0 games decided by six points or fewer. 2 games decided by 7 points)

FSU 2014 conference play:
Points for = 286 -- second in ACC
Points against = 175 -- fifth in ACC

Average score in conference: 35.75 - 21.87
Average score in all games: 33.7 - 25.6

(7 games decided by six points or fewer - doesn't even include NC State and Louisville, where they were down big and rallied late)

What exactly are we looking for here?

Why does everyone care what the national media think?

It's like you're all freshman girls hoping beyond hope the sorority girls like you during rush. And then when the Pi Phi house doesn't pick you, you say they're all just a bunch of drunken sluts.
Because even though it's not supposed to influence the decision, it does influence the decision of the committee.

Clemson got the #1 position simply due to the fellatio done because they beat 6-4 Miami 58-0.

Yes they beat Notre Dame and FSU, but they got to #1 before playing FSU. They definitely deserve to be in the top 4 with what they've done, but nothing has made me believe #1.

Still, I'll take our chances.

This. At this point last year, there was an outside shot at tOSU making the playoffs and few believed we'd fare well against the perceived titans of college football. I'll take a healthy JT, Urbans psychology background, and a group of highly competitive and talented individuals against anyone, any day. It's college football, nothing is certain.

Why does everyone care what the national media think?
The national media distorts facts into narratives. Many people (possibly including the CFB playoff committee) make judgments and decisions based on those media-generated narratives. That's why some of us care what the national media "think" (or rather, what narratives they manufacture).
