Game Thread tOSU at Texas, Sat. Sept 12, 7:30 pm ET, ABC

Here goes both barrels: Ryan Day is a fucking dumbass and a pussy bitch. It took a literal player mutiny to win the '24 title. This dude is NOT a winner. He never will be. He was one of the best OC's I've ever had the pleasure to watch, but as a head coach, his asshole clenches up more than Cameron from Ferris Beuller's Day off.

Ban me. I don't care. Anyone who blows a 20 point halftime lead against Steve Sarkesian should be fired on general principle.

2 fumbles you could not recover up 23-3
4th and 9 you could not stop
4th and 6 you could not stop
Miss the FG
Then what I think was most dumb thing ever they are at the 1 yard line let them score and you have 1:23 left to try and get a FG
Instead they let them bleed clock and now you have to stop them 4 times from the one.

Also up 22-3 go for 2 they didn't have time to score FGs they had to get 7 each time.

Lots of mistakes

This is where I'm at.

Urban makes it 45-3 sometime in the 4th quarter. Tressel takes the air out of the ball entirely and goes on an 8 minute drive.
Nah that’s how you fuck up program. Unless Day goes all James Franklin and loses the team I don’t want him gone. Not sure he’s winning another natty though unless he manages to stack another super team.

That was literally the worst game management in the last 1:30 that I have ever seen at big time cfb. 2 call 2 timeouts on D? To not tell his players to let them score to give us enough time to mount a FG drive ? Inexplicably bad. He should know better but he doesn’t. He is a great recruiter but a horrible game coach. Not even average.
As bad as tonight was, NOTHING will ever beat the Cryami meltdown a couple years ago against Georgia Tech.

I didn't say I wanted him fired. Anyone who does is a fuckwit.

I did say - as did LJB - that I'm all the way out on defending him going forward, at least for a while. This was inexcusable and we've seen it far too many times over the years.

How many goal line stands did we have over the last 2 seasons. I can see why he didn't want to give it up.
Texas was gashing us…..the D was gassed…..Manning was hot. There was no way were were going to stop them. This is potentially a fireable loss…..but it won’t be. He literally lost this game all by himself. Love him but he is simply not even an average gameday coach.

Well, Ryan Day has just managed to blow a 23-3 fourth quarter lead.

This is Michigan State 1998 version 2.0.

In that game, Ohio State led 24-9 with 9:40 left in the 3rd quarter with Michigan State punting. Ohio State muffed the punt, Michigan State recovered, and the Spartans went on a 19-0 run to win the game, 28-24.

In this game, Ohio State led 23-3 with 5:47 left in the 3rd quarter with the Buckeyes punting. Texas muffed the punt which should have been recovered by Ohio State but wasn't, and the Longhorns went on a 21-0 run to win the game 24-23.

I have been Ryan Day's biggest supporter over the years, but I'm done. This loss was inexcusable. Day failed to go for the jugular (he never does) and he essentially tried to run out the clock for the entire second half. Gutless football, play not to lose, choke the game away.
Well that part (that I bolded) isn't true. Had a couple 3-and-outs where we took essentially no time off the clock. Understand your overall sentiment though, and you could argue that Day's clock management is often dumbfounding.

But Sayin missed some absolute layups for TDs, and we missed another makable kick. Also made Arch look like an actual Manning in the 4th. There is blame to be spread around. Refs also could have given the Buckeyes a couple calls there at the end. The PI on Jeremiah Smith would have sealed the game.
