tOSU at Navy (M&T Bank Stadium), Aug 30th @ 12pm ET, CBS Sports Network

The d has been decent but im often wondering whose got the pitch guy. Too many biting on qst or 2nd guy and leaving 2nd or 3rd guy to consistently get yardage.

Basic defensive football. Stopping the pitch man, one guy gets the QB. Harder to do than you think when the guards and tackles are cut blocking the rest of the guys and creating a huge bunch of traffic that the backers can't get through.

The D played well enough to shutout Navy (without the silly call). A lot of that success was that Navy went away from the option. D looked shaky again on that last drive.

We need to remember that there are a lot of youngsters out there, playing their first game in an away stadium. Navy is quirky on offense. I'm with Clarity. Let's get out of here with a W, no matter how ugly, and get better next week.

  • The D is playing as well as you can ask them to.
  • Special teams (Kicker/Punter) look like a strength
  • Excited about Dontre/Jalin/Samuel
  • I'd give Barrett a C for the first half. Looks like, well, a first time starter. Some good, some bad.
  • The OL, particularly the interior, terrifies me right now. If this is the OL play we're gonna get, we're looking at 5 losses this season...at least.

The grade is still incomplete for me in regard to the young signal caller. His OL isn't helping him at all, seems like.

Things are just fine. Maybe the Navy runner was down before he hit the pylon, maybe not. But if 7 points means we lose, we didn't deserve to win anyway. The defense has played just fine. The offense has shown signs of life, but gets a bad read, bad play call, or blown assignment and screws it up. So far, I like what I see with Barrett. Thinking back to Braxton's first start, I think he's looked better and more prepared. It'll just take some time and some confidence in himself and from the coaching staff to open up the playbook more.
