tOSU at Navy (M&T Bank Stadium), Aug 30th @ 12pm ET, CBS Sports Network

Call me crazy, but being worried about a team that's biggest win last year was Indiana is kind of...Strange. I mean, it *is* a team with a decent triple-option offense, but I don't see how last year was great for them. They lost to Toledo in overtime! The last time Ohio had a problem with Toledo, there were militias up there fighting off the turds from up north.

35-17 good guys

This happens every year. The night before the first game is literally like being a 9 year old and knowing you have a ton of presents waiting under the Christmas tree. There's so much too watch you want to own half a dozen TV's in the same room this way you don't miss anything.

To me, New Years Eve nor the start of Spring signal a new season quite like the time around Labor Day weekend.

Even if your body can't play the game, the spirit is willing and you feel as if a part of you is on that field. I think that's why humans hold sport most dear.

That shift in the air you feel, the one so palpable...? That's the collective joy being released because the greatest sport on earth is back. Hallelujah my football brothers and sisters!!

Last post before I head to bed. Getting up early for the short drive to Baltimore. I've een waiting for this game for what seems like forever. After I watched Brian Rolle save us against Navy in the Shoe and I knew there was a return trip....I knew I was going to take my dad. After all, Annapolis is only an hour and 40 some minutes from here....and it was pretty likely they'd have this game in Baltimore (which is only about 1:15). I figured the game would be the following year. So the 2010 schedule comes out and I see no Navy. I was reminded that the game was a couple years away.

So every year...around the time Craig Krenzel or Mike Tomczak or Bobby Hoying would make appearances in the countdown thread, I'd check that link of future schedules to see if next year was the year. In 2011 I was checking for 2012. In 2012 I was checking for 2013. I kept forgetting which year it was....I just knew it was some time off in the far too distant future. I knew my boss knew a guy that played for Navy and that I could probably get tickets through him. If not, my brother works in college athletics in the great state of Maryland. Surely he'd be able to hook us up. But it all seemed like it was forever and a day away every year. Even when my boss' buddy came through with 4 tickets in the Club section, and all the amenities that come with it...the countdown was at Ray Von Pryor or Jim Cordle. You see, you don't know their numbers off the top of your head (unless you're @Coqui) because they're big linemen, who wear big linemen numbers in the 60s. 65 days is still forever and a day to wait.

But now it's not even Barn Childress or Mike Doss or Gary Berry. It's Brutus. It's Block O. It's Troy Smith hours. It's the game day I've been waiting 5 years for. It's almost time.

Go Bucks!
