tOSU at Navy (M&T Bank Stadium), Aug 30th @ 12pm ET, CBS Sports Network

Maybe it's just opening day jitters, but I'm starting to get nervous for this game. Navy had a pretty good little ballclub last year. They have a senior quarterback who had 39 touchdowns. And then there's all the matchup difficulty they present.

You combine that with the fact we basically have an entirely new offense and question marks all over the back 7 and...yikes?

Keep Calm...They ain't running Dave.

pump the brakes here....

what does Navy traditionally struggle with?

1. Teams that more than a week to prepare

and

2. Teams with strong defensive lines that can disrupt timing and get into the backfield

along with

3. Teams that have linebackers that are fast sideline to sideline.

Ohio State has all 3 and they will tackle well this year. Add to that, Navy's defense is undersized and you know the offensive gameplan has been tuned to getting the ball out of JT's hands as quickly as conditions warrant.

Trust the coaches.

pretty much agree here with both of you.

i don't see navy beating the bucks, but i am more nervous than i should be.

navy won't beat us, but we could beat ourselves and that is my concern.

lots of new pieces on offense. gotta keep control of the football and avoid mistakes.

defense has lots to prove this year after last. good opportunity for them against the navy ground game.

glad it is on tv where i can watch it and relax and not have a bar tab. also have my nfl fantasy football draft after the game about 10 houses away, well within stumbling distance.

Just remember, they basically have an entirely new defense.

You didn't happen to make a similar post before the 2009 season? :biggrin2:

In all seriousness Navy is a solid team (better than the 09 version) and their offense is quikry enough to create some issues, but I think talent will ultimately prevail and the Bucks will pull away in the second half.

I wouldn't say I am nervous about this game, just anxious to see all the players and how they respond to playing in a real game for the first time.

Worried isn't the right word really, but this game has my interest.

Nothing like starting out the season against a team that requires a disciplined defense to stop it. with the new starters on defense, especially at linebacker, it will be an interesting battle.

Actually - no.

Better offense but not a better defense. Overall they're about the same IMO but I too am nervous. Mostly it has nothing to do with Navy but everything to do with our team having to execute.

We've been prepping for Navy since spring and if we execute then no problem but if we don't it'll be closer than we want.

I have a feeling there will be a TON of posters after this game asking how we can give up as many yards as we did but just remember they do it to everyone. We still win going away though because the one place you don't want to be weak on defense is through the middle and they are.

Son and his college roomie will be there... life is good

Tangient: when my son was a freshman, he was late requesting seasons tickets so it just so happens he ends up with a season ticket seat literally at the 50 about 20 rows up... I tried to convince him to sell ONE of the games and use the money to pay for his season ticket to not only football but basketball as well plus enuf to buy a ticket in the student section for the game he'd sell and still have hundreds left over.. wouldn't do it... one of the games had 2 new faces next to him.. they told him they paid something like $2400 for that game

Going to be a battle, no question. Those young men are trained to battle for the rest of their lives so they are going to bring it on every single snap. They rarely make mistakes and when they do, they aren't mental ones. The Bucks are a great deal more athletic so they just have to be smart and follow the gameplan. If they wait on Navy to give them something, it'll be a long day.

I never say this but, trust the coaches this week. Do your assignment and play as hard as you can. Everything else will work itself out.

Now..... LET'S GO BUCKS!!!
