tOSU at Minnesota, Thurs. Sep 2nd, 8 ET on Fox

Got home from the game late last night and haven't bothered to read the previous 148 pages (I know, you're asking yourself why not). Just a few thoughts/observations.

  • It was good to meet RB07OSU before the game, put a face with a poster name, and get a chance to get to know each other a little bit. It was kind of annoying that every girl that went by was hitting on him, but I got used to it after awhile. After all, he's young, dressed in Buckeye gear, and in enemy territory.
  • All of the fans we interacted with were friendly and courteous, even the jerk who sat next to my wife who thought every play should have resulted in a penalty on the Bucks and Minny didn't commit a penalty all night. Even when the game was over he kept complaining the refs cost them the game. Conversely, the guy next to me was knowledgeable and seemed to understand calls even out. I'll go back later today and re-watch it to get a better idea.
  • I told my wife before the game they couldn't cover our receivers, and that was a prediction that held true. We had guys running free all night.
  • Stroud missed several wide open receivers, especially in the first half. There were also a few times he probably would have been better taking off and getting 6-8 yards and getting down. OTOH, it was his first game, at night, with a little rain, with a little wind, in front of a hostile crowd, against a decent team (maybe even rated by the end of the year), on national TV. He will be better next week. I believe he will be a lot better by the end of the year.
  • I would like to have seen the d-line get more pressure. Was it because their o-line is that good, or we have more room for growth than we thought?
  • Our o-line is good (like everyone with half a brain couldn't have figured that one out on their own.
  • I was disappointed in the play from the back 7 until I found out after the game we were missing 2 starters on the back end. Proud of McCall for stepping in after spending so little time on that side of the ball. Hickman is the real deal. Get Banks and Brown back and we should be fine.
  • Wilson dropped a very catchable ball. Probably the last time all season anyone will be able to say that.
  • Our running back room is deep. Williams is fun to watch. I've been a Teague fan since the day he committed. Henderson is kinda fast. The play before the swing pass I had questioned why he was in there on passing plays when Teague or Williams would have been better at protecting Stroud. Then he took the swing pass to the house.
  • This will be (another) fun tOSU team to watch.
  • Did I mention all the girls hitting on RB07OSU before the game? Oh to be 30+ years younger again.
GO BUCKS!
