The disrespect displayed year was surprising in and of itself but stung even more knowing Becker's father, Dave, played linebacker for the Buckeyes in 1995.

To his credit, even as the Hoosiers dropped a heartbreaker to the Buckeyes to end their 22-game winning streak, Charlie approached Day on the field and spoke with what sure looked like legit sincerity.

Make no mistake, his move last year lacked class but his actions today should earn back some respect from the Ohio State faithful. It sure looked like the OSU players respect Becker for his talents on the field.

Becker led the Hoosiers with nine catches for 165 yards on 18 targets.

Presser Bullets: Ryan Day Says Julian Sayin Will “Probably Be Out For Several Weeks," And The Moment "Wasn't Too Big" For Luke Fahey

164658_h.jpg

Ryan Day

  • Didn’t have an update on Julian Sayin’s injury, but said he’ll “probably be out for several weeks."
  • Said the moment "wasn't too big" for Luke Fahey when he checked in for Julian Sayin.
  • Wanted to be aggressive on the Jeremiah Smith touchdown on 4th-and-1 and called the play he made unbelievable.
  • "When someone goes down, someone has to step up," Day said regarding where the team stands without Sayin, saying how it's bigger than one person being out, mentioning Austin Siereveld and Ja'Kobi Jackson being inactive.
  • Said every week Ohio State is "more cemented as a team" and a win over Indiana and a loss to Texas has brought the team closer to each other. Said the team played with passion and heart to beat the Hoosiers.
  • Called it an "unbelievable opportunity" for Luke Fahey to come in and lead the team, but didn't have a big-picture view of what this means for the rest of the tough schedule.
  • Said the players "didn't flinch" and found a way to win in the fourth quarter.
  • Acknowledged that 14 personnel didn't work in the red zone at the end of the half, which is why they opted to spread four guys out wide on Bo Jackson's touchdown. Also added that ending with a field goal there was "not an option."

Jeremiah Smith

  • Said it's next man up with Julian Sayin being hurt, but said Luke Fahey did a good job filling in.
  • Ran the wrong route on his 4th-and-1 touchdown.
  • Said it's going to "take time" to build the same rapport with Fahey as with Sayin.
  • Said "we knew it was going to take great focus" to beat Indiana.
  • Said he was upset he was on the sideline for the first three plays of the score at the end of the first half but said it didn't matter since Bo Jackson scored.

Luke Montgomery

  • Acknowledged it was a physical game but glad they won.
  • Said he has full trust in Luke Fahey, mentioned how he told him "we got your back" when Fahey stepped into the huddle.
  • Highlighted Fahey's preparation, ability to learn and his moxie.
  • Said the offensive line has to be "true leaders" and take some pressure off Fahey's plate moving forward.

Bo Jackson

  • Called his touchdown a good play call and said it was key Julian Sayin got the ball out quick.
  • Said Ohio State's mentality was key to finishing the game against Indiana.
  • Said the whole running back room has to step up with Ja'Kobi Jackson being out; said the game was "dedicated" to Ja'Kobi.
  • Said they needed this win a lot to build momentum to build off for the rest of the year.

Jaylen McClain

  • Said the run defense has "improved a lot" and the defensive line has stepped up to the challenge.
  • It felt good for the defense to step up and go win the game; said it means a lot that the staff trusts them to do that.

Nothing like watching damn near the entire top 10 gag away games to make you appreciate this one even more. Especially considering how banged up OSU was going into the game. Sayin injury is like the only remaining black cloud. Zero truly dominant teams this year. It may come down to the fact that OSU has a literal superhero playing WR and the rest of the country doesn't.

After the worst roughing call I’ve seen and a terrible no call hold on that throw, I think that’s bullshit. Especially after having a lead for the entire 2nd half.

I get that it wasn’t a pretty win, there are injuries, and this isn’t a championship team, but god damn. This was their first home loss and only their 3rd loss in 3 years, 2 now by OSU. They probably have the best OC/DC pair by far because none of them will fucking leave. Also, poor ole Indiana has two top 15 draft picks out wide and one of the better OLs.

Do what you will, but there’s not much pointing watching these games if you’re going to treat a huge win as a borderline loss.
Also the dropped int for the Bucks that probably would have sealed it as they were still up 2 scores at that point.
