tOSU at Indiana, Sat. 9/2, 3:30pm EST, CBS

As the game approaches, I will tell (or maybe retell) a story about my recruiting visit to IU when they played the Buckeyes. The traffic to get there was just awful, but once I got in I saw all these planes flying above in the first quarter really close by. One of the other recruits explained that since the red garb was so similar, they would take shots during the OSU game for their program because it made their stadium look full. That is what their true value of a football program is in Bloomington.

I think Tom Allen is a positive thing for Indiana, even though his cheerleading antics got annoying at times. But on gameday, I don't give a damn how likeable a coach is and I am sure the whole coaching staff for OSU feels the same way. So lets destroy these mouth-breathing, mayonnaise guzzling Indiana folks and have a proper beatdown. Last line I saw was OSU -30 and the O/U was 59. I would bet to beat the spread and on the over if I didn't promise myself to never bet on OSU athletics ever again.

Ohio State has won 28 consecutive games against Indiana, dating to a tie in 1990. That is the longest current win streak for one Power Five conference team against another one.

There’s been only a few years I’ve been this excited for an opener (always excited but to different levels).

2005 and 2006 because of the Texas games, 2022 because of ND week 1 and now this year because of how deep the team is (and how interesting I think the defense will be).
*05 Texas was the 2nd game of the year. We opened with Miami, OH.

Edit- Now that I think about it, so was 06 UT. Played NIU week one

No. 3 Ohio State at Indiana -- 3:30 p.m. on CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App (Free), Paramount+ with Showtime (Try It Free): The first Big Ten game under the new CBS contract will feature an Ohio State team that is loaded on both sides of the ball. The national stage is a perfect chance for the Buckeyes to show off their new-look roster after narrowly missing a berth in the national title game last season. Can Indiana play spoiler? There's no doubt that the home crowd will be pumped up for a rare season-opening conference game.

Matt Guerrieri spent the 2022 season at Ohio State as a senior advisor and defensive analyst. In his first game as Indiana’s defensive play-caller, he’ll be coaching against the team he spent all of last season with.

That makes Guerrieri very familiar with Ohio State’s personnel and particularly its defensive scheme, as Guerrieri previously spent six years working alongside Jim Knowles at Duke before joining Knowles at Ohio State to help Knowles implement his scheme when he became the Buckeyes’ defensive coordinator last year. Given that, Knowles isn’t particularly excited about coaching against his protégé in the season opener.
“Yeah, thanks for reminding me,” Knowles said when asked by a reporter this week about Guerrieri’s knowledge of his defense. “He knows what I do really well. So yeah, he will definitely be able to give their offense insight into what we do.”

11W recommended (i.e. best) bets:

EASY BUCKS: ANALYZING THE BEST BETS FOR OHIO STATE VS. INDIANA

1. BEST BET — OVER 59 POINTS (-114)

2. BEST PLAYER PROP — CADE STOVER, ANYTIME TD (+140)

Cade Stover caught only three passes when facing the Hoosiers last time, but turned a pair of them into scores that represented a large share of the five he finished with for the entire season. He certainly wants to make the most out of every opportunity he receives, which may partially explain why the team overwhelmingly voted to make him a captain heading into 2023.

Can Stover put on an encore against a team that he trucked over last year while serving in one of the team's most respected roles? One waltz into paydirt off of a drag or delay route caught in the red zone could be all it takes for this pick to land. Against a poor passing defense the team captain has already faced twice in his career with as many touchdowns to speak for his experience, the plus money price tag next to Stover's name presents solid value for opening weekend.
