Game Thread tOSU at Illinois, Nov 16, 12 ET, ESPN

Didn't read this thread, but I heard a lot of people talking on the radio about how they give credit for Illinois for not giving up. They had to win this game to make a bowl this year, this was a must-win game for Illinois and people thought they might give up? Illinois didn't want their season to end Nov. 30th vs. Northwestern, but it's going to happen in spite of their best efforts today.

Also, odd that ESPN.com has a headline that OSU "holds off Illinois" when they won by 25 points, but I heard a couple ESPN commentators on TV saying Stanford dominated Oregon when they won by 6 and had to recover an onside kick in the final minutes and then run out the clock to ensure a victory.

It was definitely a closer game than the score indicates.

When Braxton couldn't buy a completion, secondary couldn't cover a wet carrot, Hyde bailed us out with those last two touch downs. 47-35 barring those last two TD... How do you guys not see this?

Illinois would not have won this game, but a 47-35 final score would very much have been feasible.
Bailed us out? You mean when one of the best RB's in the country scored two td's nearly untouched because one of the best OL in the country blew the doors off Illinois? Ffs, it's not like they had to run a fumblerooskie to score on the Illinois scrubs.

But you know, the last six minutes of the game count. Stanford DID beat Oregon by only 6 points. OSU DID beat Illinois by 25. 25 is more than 6. All facts that some folks at ESPN seem to have difficulty grasping.

I was one yesterday that was painting a scenario of an undefeated Ohio State being 5th at the end of the regular season. Stanford lost, so that took care of a lot of things. With Alabama "holding off" MSU and Baylor "holding off" TT I have really changed my mind. Bama beat unranked Mississippi State by 13. Is MSU as bad as Illinois? Not even close, but still an unranked team. An unranked, 6 loss team that beat Bowling Green by 1 point.

Baylor beat unranked Texas Tech (7-4) by 29 and were down by two scores at one point. Is Texas Tech as bad as Illinois? Who knows? But the mighty juggernaut that is Baylor beat them by almost the same margin that Ohio State beat the Illini.

Hell with espin, mark may, jesse palmer and the rest. Is Ohio State an elite team? They are as elite as the rest of them and they are doing what they are supposed to do. They are beating the teams that are put in front of them.
