Game Thread tOSU at Cal Bears, Sep 14, 7 ET, Fox

Dline looked great most of the time the other units not so much. But I wonder if if part of it is Meyers insisteance on playing his starters 90% of the snaps. Dline rotated but did our secondary or linebackers get a blow at all?

Tell me what you guys were hoping for on defense? This will be the toughest offense to check all year and while I'm not happy with the tackling I for one thought the defense will ultimately be fine. Now if we give up 14+ next week ill be calling for fickle to answer for that but while it doesn't look pretty the game was never in doubt and we won big with our top two rushers from last year watching the game. When this team is healthy and we run into traditional teams we will really turn heads

I would hope that the D on the #4 team in the country would perform somewhat better than Northwestern and Portland State. They did not. That's disappointing.

I was hoping for them to tackle better. Did that look like the kind of tackling you'd expect from an Ohio State defense?

I agree but they need more consistency. They had a couple of series where they looked horrible 4-5 plays in a row and Cal just blew down the field. It was also a lot of different guys blowing tackles, dropping INTs, or just missing assignments. It's not the points for me, or even the yards, it's the consistency of play. They aren't going to shut everyone out but they need to prevent lapses on entire series and possessions.

Looked to me like some of the bad habits from last year where they tried to hit instead of tackle and they bounced right off. It wasn't all game, but they had some pretty serious lapses from where I was sitting.
