I can't bring myself to post the Heath Ledger or MLK Jr. pics . . . .

We're good enough to beat Purdue, but we're not good enough to beat Hightower and Valentine on the road. We're going to lose this game by at least 10."
Really? I've seen it plenty of times. Maybe I watch too much basketball.BuckTwenty;1419397; said:I've never seen the "5 second call" ever called at any level of organized basketball. Ever. Until this game tonight.
I agree with this up to a point. I'm usually one to get annoyed when people on this site start filling up game threads with officiating complaints, whether it's basketball or football. In most cases, the calls even out in the end and it becomes a non issue.Buckeye Nut;1420029; said:More people should be absoltely pissed about the way we played than about the refs making a few bad calls. The reason we got blown out is 100% on the team giving a piss poor effort. I hate it when other fan bases blame losses on the refs and I find it embarassing to see ours giving them the majority of the blame on this thread.

I was able to record the Purdue game and I watched it yesterday. Putting Ed Hightower aside, then had to be one of the poorest performances/lack of effort that I have seen from an Ohio State basketball team in a long time. I am still pretty weak but that game almost finished me off.
So basically you're saying given the choice to keep playing hard or give up they gave up. Doesn't matter to me, you still have to keep fighting and keep playing hard no matter how the game is being officiated. Using the refs as an excuse to not give 100% effort because you think you might get called for a foul is inexcusable. Maybe there was little chance to win the game the way it was officiated, but the only way to come back is to keep playing hard and hope some calls start to go your way. Giving in should never be an option because there is no possibility of success or progress by making that choice. This team has to start becoming more mentally tough, bad calls are going to happen and you have to learn to deal with it.Dryden;1420267; said:I agree with this up to a point. This basketball game was something else entirely. The officiating actually affected the Buckeyes play. Mullens was uncomfortable setting screens because of the early whistles. Diebler didn't want to be anywhere near a loose ball since Hightower would call all of them out on him. Matta got T'd up for chewing gum, apparently. Eventually, the kids quit because they knew they were getting jobbed and weren't going to win anyway. Whatever game plan they had going into that game was completely undone by the whistles in the first five minutes.
The outcome of this game absolutely was dictated by the officials.
