I wasn't a student at that point, so no. I'd be pissed if we had to forfeit our second state title, unless that happened and I just missed it.

The 2007 title still stands. It was back in '99 that one was forfeited, so yeah, that was before your time there.

I still can't believe we didn't win the title when I was a junior. We had Jared Kuhn and he was a beast. What I recall is us being down a goal and Kuhn got tossed at the start of the third period. We ended up losing that game by a goal and Parma Padua (maybe? Could have been St. Ed's) ended up winning the state title.

We've owned the baseball diamond. Does that count more than tiddlywinks?

And, just for the record, I've been a huge hockey fan for years. I care more about hockey than I do basketball. It's why I'm so bitter about the calls on Saturday night. Chaps my arse if I do say so myself.

And according to U-M's coach the head of officials admitted to him yesterday morning that they botched both calls. Sweet. Can we just flip-flop the team goal counts 48 hours later? :)
whats your view on no touch icing?

I watched some of the hockey over the weekend. The Buckeyes attempted a lead pass from just behind the redline to a player breaking in behind the UM defense. The pass was just beyond his reach, and even though he had a 3 stride lead on the defenders, the play was whistled down for icing.

No-touch is a joke. :shake:

I'm torn on the no-touch icing. I know it's supposed to be done in order to prevent injuries from skaters colliding hard into the boards to negate the icing, but I think there should be more latitude given to the officials in order to use their judgment on whether or not the intent was there for a pass and not just dumping it down the ice. At the same time, the CCHA officials are so bad it might not be wise to give them judgment calls. I'm sure someone will get screwed.

At the same time, I think one thing college hockey needs to do in order to become more mainstream is to try and become uniform with NHL rules. I'd like to see ice rink's in the NCAA get a mandated size. If that happens, touch up icing might help the game grow. Certainly makes it more interesting. Probably shortens the game a bit too.

jo is fine with touch up icing.
jo is not fine with no touch/automatic icing for reasons pointed out by bk and more.
