OK, I've got an HTPC with two ATI theater-pro 550 tuners and I finally started playing with it -- a full game recording goes straight to mpg2 and is about 12Gb total (6 2Gb segments). I presume the file splits are done this way because of the Windows' 2Gb file size limitation. Do conversion programs automatically sequence these back together? Also, what is the easiest way to strip out the commercials?

Huh? 2 gb file size limitation? MCE 2005 stores my recorded games as one 12 GB dvr-ms file. Best software to cut out commercials is DVRMSToolbox. It's not perfect, but the best thing to do is run that, and then edit out whatever commercials it missed by hand using something like Videowave 7. Videowave 7 is the only program I can think of that can edit DVR-MS files.

I've been using TMPGEnc Xpress and it can handle DVR-MS files as well.

One thing I noticed just now...there are people still trying to get the Alamo Bowl, scUM game, and MSU game but can't because no one is seeding! I can't seed every file when I'm seeding new games (e.g. Texas) cause I gotta save bandwidth so people can get the new files quicker. So if you have the Alamo Bowl or 2004 scUM game, seed it so these people don't have to wait 10 weeks to get it.
