I have the Fiesta Bowl against Miami on VHS that I recorded off of TV (decent copy-not great). Anyone know how to convert it to a PC?
If you want to rip your VHS copy of the Fiesta Bowl, you'll need to add a video capture card to your computer. I found one for $19 here http://computerlogin.com/sales/productfile/Y_TVPCI.html

You'll have to install it (opening your PC up), but it's pretty easy to do. Then you just run your VCR out to the computer instead of the TV.

If you want, I can rip it for you. PM me if you want me to do that for you, and I'll give you my address. Also, do you have any other games recorded?

--- This goes for the rest of ya's too! I know people are sitting on their private collections! :)

I'm also gonna stop seeding the lo-res versions, and I'm gonna delete them from my HDDs when I get the chance. I don't have enough space to justify keeping both versions around, and don't really wanna seed all six files anyway.

Download speeds are limited by the number of people who can upload the file. Your best bet is to just leave your computer on for a few days. Some times a whole bunch of people will get on and start uploading the file when you aren't on the computer. Bittorrent isn't the fastest way to transfer files, but it gets the job done, and it's free.

I've just finished hacking my DirecTV TiVo so I can make fully digital MPEG-2 (think DVD Quality) rips of the games. The quality will be much improved and the file sizes are much smaller than the abalog-based files we're currently sharing.

I plan on ripping and seeding all the OSU games this year. I was just going to do this for my friends in the military, but now that we've got bit torrent going, well...

I'm thinking I'll rip these as VCDs and seed them. This way they'll be usable by people (like me) who have CD burners but are too poor to get DVD burners. Any thoughts on the VCDs vs DVDs?

One other thing, PM me if you have any requests. I have local Columbus channels (digital), and the basic ESPN channels. No ONN or ESPNU - but that may change...

ROCKETMANN,
This is great what you've got going. You had previously asked about formats. I'dl like to burn all the games this season and just want to put up a reminder before you do whatever you are going to do with the miami game requesting that you have at least one version of the game split up into file chunks less than 700 MB so that they can be easily burned without having to do anything besides download.

Thanks again for all of this ... it's just unbelievably cool.
