Top Ten games of the decade (per USA Today)

Ten of the most thrilling college football games of the decade - USATODAY.com

10. Rutgers 28, Louisville 25 (2006 season)
9. LSU 28, Florida 24 (2007 season)
8. Penn State 26, Florida State 23 (2005 season) (Orange Bowl)
*7. Ohio State 42, Michigan 39 (2006 season)*
6. Texas Tech 39, Texas 33 (2008 season)
5. Southern California 34, Notre Dame 31 (2005 season) (One of Charlie's greatest victories)
4. Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32 (2007 season) Not just scUM, but 5th ranked - at the time - scUM.
*3. Ohio State 31, Miami 24 (2002 season) (Fiesta Bowl) (even USA Today makes a pitch for pass interference)*
2. Texas 41, USC 38 (2005 season) (Rose Bowl)
1. Boise State 43, Oklahoma 42 (2006 season) (Fiesta Bowl) (begs the question, is it an upset if you are overrated?)

Of twenty possible times, the Buckeyes are mentioned twice (as winners), scUM is mentioned twice (as losers), and USC and Texas are each mentioned twice (splitting their games (ironically, one of them against one another.))

And in case you didn't notice it, of only twenty possible times, the Buckeyes are mentioned twice (as winners), and scUM is mentioned twice (as losers.)

I don't remember #10. But i'm sure one of the Texas/Oklahoma games could be up there, maybe even this years, instead of some game w/ rutgers and louisville. I agree with the top 4 though, spot on.

Not a fan of #8 on there. Wasn't that game the one where like 4 easy field goals were missed, continuously extending the game? Close and enjoyable, to be sure, but it kind of takes away from it when teams just keep on sucking. Maybe it's my bias (but trust me, I don't like thinking about this game) but our game vs Texas from the same year was better, IMO.

I remember that game. Louisville kicked the game winning fieldgoal and had it called back from a timeout. On the 2nd attempt they missed and Rutgers went crazy. It was an extremely entertaining game and had high stakes. I don't disagree with its place on the list.

That was the year Schiano broke out as a coach. Rutgers had their Cinderella type season and they took down (heavily favored IIRC) Louisville.

Agreed.

Texas-Michigan Rose Bowl 06 was a better choice.

And they went right back to mediocrity. Maybe if Schiano had sustained the success it would have been a worthwhile inclusion.

Well, except backwards, it was Rutgers kicking the field goal, they missed the 1st time and made the 2nd to pull it out. Rutgers was undefeated at the time

That was after Rutgers came back from a 25-7 deficit

Great Games all.

I enjoyed watching them all.

Being a lifetime fan of the Bucks, I don't think anything would compare to the Bucks beating Michigan. Especially when Ohio State and Michigan were 1 and 2.
