"Top Senior" / NFL Lists (Is Troy Smith an NFL QB?)

I couldn't give a shit what Kiper's predictions are. After watching him look like a complete dumbass on Draft Day, missing pick after pick, anything he says doesn't seem credible at all. At least he has that sweet hair going for him...

McShay had a bunch more rankings, including underclassmen.

Pittman was not among the top 15 RBs. Darius Walker was 13th, Mike Hart 6th.

Ginn was 3 on the WR list, behind Jarrett and Calvin Johnson, all ahead of Samardzija.

Barton was the only OL listed, 7th on the tackle rankings.

Pitcock is the top senior DT, behind junior Texas DT Frank Okam.

Mike D'Andrea of all people is 10th at ILB.

Mitchell is 10th at safety.

The last two listed makes me wonder how in-depth McShay really looked, considering neither man is likely to start. I like both players, but they shouldn't be ranked where they are, IMO.

I'm just curious... Do you think there's any way that Zwick gets drafted next year in the draft? I'm just curious because Brady was a backup, and got drafted, and Matt Cassell of USC was drafted last year, as well. We all know that Zwick is a very capable QB, and he has very favorable NFL size.

kiper is a recognized name who has been doing it a while, so we're supposed to assume he knows what he's talking about.

pos at 4 is hilarious, with a follow up of Woodley at 13 for laughs.

hall is a solid corner prospect, not elite, but late 1st round quality.

We're supposed to assume, correct. However, he was exposed this year, and it just comes to show that he's just like every one of us, and our guess is just as good as his. He's really going to need to redeem himself in next year's draft...

In fairness to Kiper, nobody knows anything when it comes to who is going to go where in the draft, particularly since it's impossible to forecast which teams will trade picks.

Where Kiper shines is when he starts rattling off the career exploits of Sun Belt players and a bunch of Div II and IAA prospects on Day 2, when virtually everyone else on the set has no clue who any of the kids are.

I'll grab this one. A lot of that is going to depend on how much Zwick has done to develop himself mentally and physically while a backup. It also depends on the number of practice reps he's getting. His upsides are size and pre-snap reads in the spread. Downsides are mobility and arm strength. Leadership qualities might be up in the air to some people, but I think he's shown himself to be a steady, stable person. A good combine performance, or OSU pro day performance can help him out.

I have a hard time seeing him getting a draft slot without some game time this year, however. UDFA, maybe. Always a possibility, as is NFL Europe for a year or two of development. If the worse case scenario happens and #10 can't play a few games (I hesitate to even dare type that out), and Zwick performs at a high level, then he might move himself into a late round.

Quinn and Henne Comparisons

To see both Quinn and Henne get ranked higher than TS makes me think that they're saying, if TS played versus our defense last year, he wouldn't have won either game.

What do you guys think? Do you think the offense last year could have beaten the defense in a real match up?

Whew, personally I think it's really close, but a lot closer than the Notre Dame game was. Face it, Troy is a much bigger weapon than BQ. His passing ability is truly comparable. Yet, his controlled running threat and elusiveness in the pocket commands a lot more attention and respect.

The Michigan game was a really great close game. Without the Gonzo-Special, I don't know if we would have won it. But that play in and of itself represents a lot of the great intangibles Troy has. The line blocked great. Troy eluded a blitzing linebacker (made him look like a fool), and then both he and Gonzo were on the same page. Gonzo gets blocked out and then heads up field calling for the ball. Smith sees that and lays it in there high out of the db's reach. Gonzo goes up (says he can't jump) and gets up ended, but holds onto the ball. Man, that was beauty.

So to make a long story short, Troy Smith beat both Brady Quinn and Henne in face to face battles. A lot of the reason we won was because of his great abilities. The experts may call it one way, but the truth shows a different picture.

If Ginn continues to develop, he will be a Top 10 pick next year. If he doesn't, he will be a second rounder....as for Pittman, a big year a few more lbs could lead to a late 1st round selection for him....Gonzo-no, he'll get a look in the league, but he is a 4 year guy anyway...Wells is too young, and Jenkins has another year to go after next....aside from Ginn, Pitcock might be the surest thing next year for a first rounder-a big, strong, tough DT, who plays w/ great hustle and technique, and doesn't have any character and/or hustle problems-I could think of worse things for the Bengals to do w/ their first rounder next year....

does he do this on E!SPN insider articles? B/c they he rarely covered the late 2nd round prospects (from BCS schools) during most of the draft specials, let alone the lesser known guys.

I'm guessing if he has a mediocore season, he will go in the first round. Scouts love speed and Ginn has lots of it. Jonathan Joseph went in the first round this year with lots of raw potential.(Not sure if this is a good comparison) I assume that Ginn will probably do the same.
