I hope this isn't somewhere else. Some of you old types might remember seeing some of these defenses. Were they that good?

seems like they went... Oh who's D has alot of guys in the NFL (or were drafted) and who looks pretty .... not agree with some of those esp the 08 U$C.... its a subjective thing..

1959 Ole Miss

They gave up 21 points all season and one touchdown was because of the famous Billy Cannon punt return and they avenged that loss with a (are you ready for this) 21-0 shutout of LSU in the Sugar Bowl rematch.

1971 Nebraska? Hello?

Heck, 1995 Nebraska:

Averaged 400 yards rushing per game while allowing only 78, scoring 51 rushing touchdowns while allowing only 6), their record setting offensive performance, and their statistically impressive defense throughout the season, the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers are widely considered the greatest team in college football history.

That being said, the '71 team only allowed 102 points all season long (and 31 of those points came in 'The Game of the Century').

If one of the TDs was on a punt return, then that's against the special teams and not the defense. Giving up only two TDs on defense in 11 games in mind-boggling...
