Tony Parker (Frayles de Guasave)

The ESPN Insiders did a prediction for each of the top recruits. Only one of the 7 or so guys picked TP to go to OSU. The "majority" of 3 picked UCLA. Perhaps he is waiting for Shabazz Muhammad's decision - maybe if Bazz picked UCLA then TP would fall in line. I dunno.

I don't really care about Tony's decision anymore - this recruitment has gotten old and tired, and you run the risk of being labeled a drama queen when you drag it out like he's been doing. It still interests me, but I'm not going to be disappointed no matter what. Wasn't he close to a decision in the fall at some point? Then he was going to decide Wednesday, now he's going to decide after Wednesday at some point that we don't know. The recruiting yo-yo.

What you call dragging out I call smart. If a kid is waiting to see where he either gets the most playing time or is most likely to win a NC by waiting until the draft deadline, I think that is smart.

Or better yet, why not wait until next March when the Final Four is already decided to pick a team. He will have a much better shot of winning an NC. Might make for good drama, and get him a lot of attention as well. :wink2:

There's no way of accurately predicting right now or even after everyone else decides whether UCLA, Duke, Kansas or OSU will make a deep run next year. Injuries happen, transfers happen, academic ineligibility happens, things can change significantly from February to March (Robbie Hummel & Fab Melo, anyone?), and there's nothing you can do about it. It's likely that none of those teams he's considering are even in the Final Four next year.

If he wanted the most playing time or the home team, he could've picked Georgia months ago. If he was going to play multiple years, any of UCLA, Duke, KU or OSU would be good choices if he wants to make a deep tourney run. I don't think there's any good reason to keep waiting other than he wants to see where everyone else in his class goes first and who all declares for the draft. That, and I guess he really likes all the attention.

Tony scored 0 points (0-3 from the field), had 0 rebounds and 3 fouls while representing the USA in a losing effort in the Nike Hoop Summit last weekend. I think he's a far cry from Sullinger, but I'm not sure he'd agree with me on that.

You know what Matta has said in the past - the great ones don't care who else the team has at their position. The more concerned a guy is about having to compete for PT and get into shape, the less concern I have about his decision. It doesn't mean it's not interesting to follow his process, just that either way I don't think he's going to make or break a team's chances next year.

If he is worrying about playing time he must not be that confident in his ability.

Uncommitted big man Tony Parker still weighing his options
Chris Littmann Sporting News

CHARLOTTE?With 1.9 seconds remaining in Saturday night's Jordan Brand Classic and the West squad holding a two-point lead, Shabazz Muhammad stepped to the line to shoot two free throws to ice the game.

Before he could hoist the first, timeout was called. On the way to the huddle, East team big man Tony Parker gave Muhammad a playful tap on the back of the head. If it were any other two players, it probably would've meant nothing, but Muhammad is UCLA-bound and the Bruins are desperately hoping Parker, who remains uncommitted, decides to head to Westwood.

"We always mess around," Parker said after the game. "When I was at the free throw line he was like, 'Come on, TP. Miss me one.' So you know I had to get him back at the free throw line.

"It's just all love. Shabazz is my boy. I had a great time playing with him and against him."

A hopeful Muhammad laughed when asked about Parker's late attempt to rattle him.

"Tony is such a clown on the court," Muhammad said. "I can't wait until he decides to come to UCLA hopefully. He's such a good player, and if we get him, that's the icing on the cake."

Despite a report and additional social media buzz that Parker intends to commit to UCLA, he said that he is not committed anywhere yet and plans to pick from Ohio State, Kansas, Duke, UCLA and Georgia at a news conference at his high school next Friday around 6 p.m.
