It just boogles the mind how anyone could go to UCLA given the recent negative exposure of the current head coach....
I too find it very suspicious that they not only got so many top ranked recruits but pulled them out of so many different regions. Anyone remember the Nick Nolte movie "Blue Chips"?

Visit the campus sometime and your mind will no longer be boogled.

It's one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. And a lot of the scenery is female.

Can we give this one a rest? The fact a player elects not to play in Columbus is not evidence of malfeasance.

His AAU coach is now an assistant at UCLA...good for UCLA on getting the commitment. But let's not act like a few strings weren't pulled. It's a part of college basketball....

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...20024238/ucla-trio-being-investigated-by-ncaa

CBSSports.com has confirmed that the NCAA has been investigating three of UCLA's highly touted freshmen.
Shabazz Muhammad, Kyle Anderson and Tony Parker, a trio of Ben Howland recruits who the Bruins are hopeful will take them back to national relevance, have all been the target of the NCAA over the last few months.
The news was first reported by the UCLA site of Scout.com.
CBSSports.com wrote about Muhammad and his connections to a pair of financial advisors back in February. However, the NCAA is also concerned about the recruitments of both Anderson, a 6-foot-7 1/2 point forward from New Jersey, and Parker, a big man out of Georgia.
Muhammad wasn't allowed to play on the team's recent trip to China while both Anderson and Parker were cleared to play.

Sources told CBSSports.com that one of the issues that the NCAA is looking into the relationship between Anderson and agent Thad Foucher -- who works for Arn Tellem and the Wasserman Group. The NCAA is also investigating whether Parker's family received improper benefits throughout the recruiting process.

You know, the Blue Chips reference seems more and more appropriate for UCLA with each passing day. Howland was on the ropes there, having flamed out the past few seasons & he needed a big recruiting class to right the ship. Regardless of whether anything actually comes from the NCAA investigations, I'll believe that Muhammad and Anderson were, as the movie said, the best players money could buy for UCLA - I do think there was something extra involved with those two. Parker, on the other hand, was not a top-10 recruit, and they already had his AAU coach and a friend on the team to help coax him to go there, so I'm skeptical that they would need to provide his family with extra benefits. But if they did, I guess you could amend the quote as it applies to Howland's recruits as "the best players money can buy ... and the best we could afford after we paid for the first two. It's not like you can get a mortgage to take care of these things, people."

So maybe the image of UCLA babe is more a Ben howland marketing illusion, not a benefit of Bruin basketball life.
Lots of attrition in LA recruiting classes, and now Parker is tweeting/lamenting being so far from home during the holidays.

Since so many promising UCLA players have abruptly left the program the past few years, Bruins fans are understandably wary at even the slightest sign of discontentment from a member of the team.
As a result, several cryptic tweets from freshman center Tony Parker the past few days ignited speculation the Atlanta native could be the third UCLA player to transfer since the season began.
"A lot of told me this wasn?t for me I wish I would?ve listened,? Parker tweeted Dec. 23. Then two days later he added, "Being in LA for Christmas is nothing like home."

It's not, which is why it's inexcusable for UCLA to be so bad in football. They have the weather, the babes, the town and they aren't separated by a gate from the ugliest part of the west.

Tony Parker, in a tweet that I believe has been deleted, supported the AAU team who attacked an official today, comparing it to hockey players and baseball teams fighting each other.

It looked to me like an extreme attack on a ref by a team that was out of control.
