I do not believe they should fire Crean now if they value success (and/or $5 million). Since 1994, Tom Crean has led IU to 2/3 of their Sweet 16 appearances and 1/2 of their B1G championships. Even Coach Knight was not recruiting particularly well there in the late '90s. They have a good program but let's not pretend like it's a job where a lot of coaches have been very successful at lately.

Personally I wouldn't want Crean as coach of a team I root for now, but there are many other coaches out there who would struggle to get IU to the Sweet 16 and win the B1G. Success-wise I just don't think it makes sense right now. If he has a couple more years when they don't make the tourney, then maybe then.

I agree.

I don't follow hoops that much anymore but the IU faithful I know were always expecting Meyer/Saban level success from a coach and I don't know that there is a guy who A) can do that in the hoops world anymore and B) IU can land should he exist

He mentioned on the telecast that people need to slow down on the Fire Crean craze- citing that 2 years ago they climbed to #1 and made back-to-back Sweet 16's. That said, Dakich is hard on every one and he doesn't back down from criticizing his alma mater, so he's vocally disagreed with Tommy's coaching plenty of times.

Well, I guess Dakich had quite the rant on his radio show this afternoon. Ripped into the coaching/program.

Meanwhile, insufferable IU fans have somehow made me actually (slightly) defend Crean. Goodness.

It makes me sick that people would do that at a kids game.

It makes me sicker to know Crean has procreated....with one of the Harbaugh brothers
