Tom Izzo (HC Michigan St. Spartans)

I hate the news... fox and CNN can all drown in a shallow puddle of water as far as I'm concerned. Same for espn too.

They're 100x more dangerous to this world then anyone. FUCK.

ok I'm done and I won't get into it because I have conspiracies
Sooo...the media wants people to believe that people were sexually assaulted even though they weren’t? Is that what you’re going with?

Not at all... that the media casts stones without fact checking first. People can be ruined with a post online or coverage on air even if innocent.

If they're guilty fuck em' but if they're not? They'll still be seen as guilty now.

The media will ruin anyone for a click or a listen... could care less for their wake.

Disclaimer that I am not a Republican or Democrat lol

Izzo is in a tough spot because he is being held to 2017 standards, when he allowed an assistant coach who punched a woman in the face, to continue coaching back in 2009.

Had Walton's incident happened last month, he'd have been suspended immediately. Period.

Izzo not only allowed him to continue coaching through the alleged assault, but then let him continue coaching after he plead down his charge.

I don't think Izzo should be forced out over that. I understand there were other incidents including Adreian Payne and Keith Appling, but it looks like Izzo followed protocol as a coach.

I guess, IMO, if you force Izzo out at MSU, do you then turn around and force Jimbo Fisher out at FSU over Jameis Winston? Do we look into all of the misconduct at Alabama and force Saban out? Do we start holding Urban Meyer accountable for the awful arrest record, including several domestic violence incidents at UF?

It's quite the rabbit hole....

And if we want to discuss conspiracies, I'd posit a few things.....

1. The Big 10 and ESPN's relationship has never fully recovered after ESPN made a mockery of Ohio State during the Tressel firing

2. The Big 10, influeneced by OSU, had significant reasons to diverge from ESPN when creating the Big 10 Network and then signing a massive deal with Fox Sports

3. Let's call Michigan State, the 5th, maybe 6th most important sports program in the Big 10 (1. OSU 2. UM 3. PSU 4. Wisconsin 5. MSU/Nebraska?)........Had this situation happened at, say, Tennessee or Florida, do you think ESPN would be in a multi-year legal battle over FOIA requests and actively appearing to want to force coaches out?

Cause I don't think that'd be happening, personally.

I'm all for great reporting, and have a lot of respect for Outside the Lines. I just think there are significant reasons why ESPN is willing to throw a guy like Tom Izzo under the bus, when they were significantly less hostile towards Hugh Freeze (who did far worse things, IMO). But Hugh was part of the "brotherhood". How much juice could ESPN milk out of all the sexual assault at Tennessee, going back to Peyton Manning? Think they'd touch that? I don't.
OTL can suck my left nut (ESPN is already on the right one)... as you said they know who to trash if given the chance with the big ten.

Like Trump with CNN, Hillary with Fox... The big ten will forever be ESPNs interest to bring down given the slightest opportunity.

But yeah sure the big ten being left out of the ESPN driven collage playoffs was fair... sure it was.

Today Tom had problems remembering why Travis Walton left MSU as a coach/assistant in 2010, even though the departure happened after he was accused of rape. Maybe he didn't want to have to answer why Walton left, LITERALLY MOVING OUT OF TOM IZZO'S BASEMENT, and why Appling and Payne were not disciplined.

This guy is gold. How he is not syndicated is beyond me.

My guess is that he is such a diehard local fan that he may not have that passion for national topics.

Valenti 2020.

He’s from NY, not Detroit. He’s a diehard MSU fan and then NYG, Yankees, Celtics. He seems to genuinely hope the Detroit teams do well though. He can definitely have a solid opinion on just about any national topic. He fills in for NY stations at times, word is in a trial kind of way but who knows. My guess, he’s just simply happy where he’s at. He’s at the top of the sports radio market in Detroit by far, and I’m sure is doing plenty fine financially. He comes across to me in his daily show as a sincerely good dude that just isn’t afraid to call it like he sees it, rather than your typical seemingly ego driven sports media guy.

Agreed. I actually enjoy listening to him even though he doesn’t cover any teams I like/care about. My opinions usually align with his on more national topics, and I like how he doesn’t pull any punches.
