What an awesome hire Herman has been. I was impressed with him from day one and that was before he even stepped foot in Texas wearing S&G.

I'm just afraid he won't be here long. I hope if Brax is back next year he will be too. TH is the real deal IMO.

Based on what I think I know about Urban though, he probably realized the same thing before he even hired Herman, and probably has detailed contingency (replacement) plans formulated already. With that said, I'd hate to see TH go. What a mind. What a coach. What a recruiter.

I wholeheartedly agree. My hope is that Braxton will return for his senior season and TH will definitely want to be there for yr. 3 with Braxton in that offense. After that? Next guy up.

I was a little apprehensive about hiring Texas Tom when we had so many big name coaches being bandied about as potential hires. My opinion began to change upon learning more about what he was able to do with Rice and Iowa State, turning those historically pathetic offenses into ones that made some noise.

Witnessing the dramatic change this offense has made, going from one of the worst in the B1G to the best in the B1G in one year; the improvements he's instilled into Braxton; and the ridiculous talent he's been able to pull out of one of the most talent rich states in the country... talent that will win us a national title soon... I'm convinced there's not a better OC in college football.

It's Withers. Herman grew up in Cincy and has family here.

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman wants the Buckeyes' offense to go fast this season, but he doesn't want to drive it into a ditch.

There's a chance that the offensive plan Ohio State trots out against Buffalo next Saturday will be in many ways unrecognizable compared to the Buckeyes of a year ago. Urban Meyer doesn't even really like to call what Ohio State did last year the spread.

We've gone over how the additions and improvements in personnel could affect the Buckeyes. How the coaches put it together will change as well. But while Meyer hired Herman, a coach he didn't know, from Iowa State in part because of his experience with an up-tempo, no-huddle offense, the Buckeyes don't want to go so fast that they lose control.

?All the no-huddle gurus, I think we're a little bit different,? Herman said. ?They want 90 to 100 snaps. For us, it's whatever it takes to win. If we run 68 snaps and we've got one more point than they do on the scoreboard, we're happy. If we run 100 snaps and we have one more point than they do, we're happy. Not to sound clich?, but whatever it takes to win. We have no goals as far as total snaps.?
