Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

Their defense was abysmal, but the offense is an easy target because that's supposed to be Herman's specialty, and he brought on Tim Beck, who has been wrecking teams for a decade now but still falls face first into premier coaching gigs.

Mensa has his work cut out for him. Texas has fostered a culture of lousy play on both sides of the ball ever since Colt McCoy left. They fancy themselves as a program who's birthright is championship contention, but in reality, outside of stumbling into two excellent QBs during the 2000s, they've largely been a mediocre program for four decades.

Herman is a very good coach, but most thought the same of Charlie. I'm not sure anybody can turn that dumpster fire around.
Agreed on all points. Just stating that today's loss was more because of the defense than the offense. But yeah, not only did Herman bring in Beck, but he brought him in, and if I remember, scoffed at the fact that he was the reason that OSU was stuck in quick sand as an offense since Beck got there. Beck's his problem now, and it doesn't help that his QB had to pass 50+ times to keep the game score somewhat respectable. They will land some top recruits, but this offense will regress, and the UT base is not one for being patient, as like you've said they've been mediocre since Colt left, but the fans, alum and admins are too delusional. UT and ND are programs that don't hold the same name recognition they once did, and the pressure is insanely intense. Good luck Thomas, you're gonna need it, this is only game 1. What will you do, when not only do the defense, but the offense's wheels start coming off?

When you have an O-line this fucking stupid... You don't have a chance.

Who knew Kalis was a UT grad transfer?

They've been mediocre since they choked away an NC to Notre Dame in the 1977 Cotton Bowl. The six years of 04-09 are the exception to the rule of Texas football, not the rule itself.

Thats true, but those 6yrs gave them a superiority complex and a sense of entitlement that they belong at the table with the true blue blood programs.

UT’s woes now belong to Herman
By Mike Finger

September 2, 2017

AUSTIN — Tom Herman demanded ownership of everything, and Texas could not wait to give it to him. He wanted to control not only the message, but the music and the décor, from every slick graphic to the flat-screen television at each new $9,000 locker.

When it came time for a sledgehammer, he swung it himself. For nine months, Herman made it abundantly clear that the Longhorns’ outdated ways of doing things needed to change, and that the program was going to belong to him, from top to bottom.

Well, now it does.

The boos that descended from the upper reaches of Royal-Memorial Stadium just five minutes into the second quarter of this new era? Those are Herman’s now. So are the dozens of pieces of trash flung by fans toward the field in the closing minutes of his grand debut.

His "fairy dust" comment from yesterday after hyping the team up for 9 months isn't gonna play over well with the fan base
