Still, Houston went 7-5 this year, is going to a bowl, and they fire the coach for not living up to expectations?
They are ambitious. That's why they are hiring Tom Herman.

Outstanding...I had a feeling he'd insist on that.Twitter blowing up now it is done deal, 5 year contract with Houston. Will coach through championship game.
Made sense for another reason recruiting dead period started today until January 15th. So it's not like he could recruit....I hadn't thought about that but someone brought that up on TwitterTwitterOutstanding...I had a feeling he'd insist on that.

That's true, but he'll still have to get a staff together though. He'll also have some recruiting work to do even if it's not contacting recruits. Get to know the committed guys, get a better feel for targets (don't forget that while he's recruited Texas the past 3 years, ohio state only goes for top echelon guys while he would be looking in the much lower guys in Texas now). I have no clue how much of that could realistically be done if we were to win and he would have no true free time until the 13th.Made sense for another reason recruiting dead period started today until January 15th.
