If Herman decides to go to Texas he's not going there without a guaranteed five year deal for at least as much as Michigan gave the Hairball. At that rate you can afford to be fired because you can sock a shit load of money aside and then go back to being the HC at East North Texas Mining and Electrical for a mill or so and live a long happy life of good cigars and better than top shelf Scotch.

Two things, and I'm not even defending Texas here beyond saying that 16-20 over three years at Texas, no matter what the boosters are doing, isn't cutting it:

1. Considering the amount of innuendo and goofiness that y'all went through with the firing/not firing/firing of the NC-winning grasseater, I'm somewhat surprised that you find Texas to be uniquely deep in bullshit.

2. I don't know that the Perrin hiring was about Strong at all. His predeccessor, Steve Patterson, was an absolute shit show who alienated everyone there from the big swinging dick boosters down to washroom attendants.

I think the wildcard here is that Fenves and Perrin have both been on the job (as President and AD, respectively) less than 18 months and are already on the hot seat. The boosters seem to believe they've got Oliver Luck lined up as future AD, which is probably news to the current AD. All of that changes the dynamic.

Especially interesting in re: to Herman since, if Perrin were also axed and Luck brought in, Luck and Herman have a prior relationship since Herman was the chief recruiter for Andrew Luck back in 2008 while QBC/OC at Rice.

Perrin not dropping the axe on Strong despite the power-boosters leaking word Strong had already been fired makes for an interesting power-struggle.

Bill Powers and DeLoss Dodds lasting as long as they did didn't happen because they were stupid and ignored the billionaires in Bolo ties and 10 gallon hats.

incompetence is not necessarily the same as bullshit.

the Les Miles debacle came down to money. And not even the actual money. Just the appearance of money.
people who actually have a higher rank than our AD pulled the plug on that one.

I also didn't mean to imply the AD move was septic to Strong.
just that it is part of the equation that they put a puppet in place.
