Tom Herman (Former Head Coach FAU Owls)

I have some great memories of Ohio State Football, dating way back to the days of Woody in the 50's, all the way thru Earle, Coop, Tress and now in Urbans era. But I can honestly say, I can never remember an Ohio State Football going thru such a huge Transition, than what I have witnessed in this year. I know Urban is a great coach but his coaching staff of Tom, Ed Warriner and the rest of the staff did a miraculous job in turning this team into a real juggernaut. I hope they can all stay as they are with Ohio State for a long time.

After the 2nd half of the season he absolutely earned it not only with his great play calling, but also with his ability to get two QBs that have hardly had any playing time here perform at such a high level. Oh and he also has incorporated other playmakers when Dontre went down as well. Hats off to him. Obviously I would love to keep him here another year but would understand if he gets a decent job offer and takes it. On the plus side, Nebraska and Florida already reached for their guys.

Shooting in the dark, but kind of worried about Colorado State job. If they're smart, they look for another coordinator with a hot hand imo. And there's a somewhat tenuous connection between the two since Earle Bruce w/Urban on his staff.
OTOH, if they want to stay cheap it sounds like they could just hand it to the "interim" guy for pennies.

Included in the video of the Awards Program above, and from the Dispatch:

“We’d just won the Big Ten championship game with our third-string quarterback, ” Herman said yesterday at the Little Rock, Ark., luncheon for the Broyles Award, which goes annually to the nation’s top assistant coach. “I looked at her and I said, ‘Michelle, in your wildest dreams, did you ever think that I would be coaching at Ohio State, and be a finalist for the Boyles Award?’

“And she looked at me and said, ‘Tom, you’re not in my wildest dreams.’ ”

Nice job keeping him grounded, Michelle.

Just remember this when you guys are down on Herman....

I been an outside member of BP for a while and if I had a dime for every "fire Herman" post I've seen, I could retire by now, LOL
I think Herman has done a much better job this year, than last. I still think the decision to run Braxton instead of Hyde last year against MSU cost us the game. I still think the VT 'adjustments' cost us the game. I still don't like running the QB as much as he does when Braxton/JT are in the game. Not when you have Hyde or Elliott. I still don't like the goal line offense, and that's because I think it could be much better than it is.

Maybe I am crazy. Maybe some of the above choices aren't Herman's and I am wrong in my assumptions. I loved the offense when KG played last year, and I felt Cardale ran a similar attack against Wisky. Here's the thing - the dude can flat out recruit. Urban made it known when he put this staff together that recruiting was the most important factor.

I think there are probably better signal callers out there, but as an entire package: QB coach, recruiting and play calling - Herman is a helluva coach and deserved the Broyles award. Similar to Fickel in some ways - who in my opinion, caught heat for the play calling while his unit and recruiting preformed as they should have when in reality, no one was certain if the play caller was Fickel or the secondary coach (who left the program, whose unit underperformed .. coincidentally.).

Herman does a heckuva job. Pay Warriner, and pay Herman.

Edit: Does 'outside member' mean lurker? Where was the discussion earlier in the year?
