Or for those of us of a certain age, a stare like a guy in the on-deck circle would have while watching Ryne Duren warm up.

And to those of you not of a certain age: Duren played for the Yankees in the 60s. He wore thick "coke bottle" glasses, squinted, and threw a hundred MPH fastball. A reliever, he would come to the mound and act as if he could barely see the catcher. His first warm-up pitch would be a flamer that would slam into the backstop, way over the head of the catcher. He would slowly work his way down to where the pitches were going in close proximity of the target set by the catcher. The last warm-up pitch would be high and tight, just about where the batter's head would be. The idea that he could throw at a hundred MPH, but had no control was a deliberate part of his schtick.
