2027 TN RB David Gabriel Georges (Verbal Offer)

Ah, the bias of the media, and then cherry picking from the article to try to validate the highly questionable conclusion.

"The broadcaster also cited state laws restricting transgender people’s bathroom access, limits on local anti-discrimination ordinances and Governor Bill Lee’s designation of June 2026 as "Nuclear Family Month." June is widely recognized as Pride Month across the United States."
Some would consider not allowing boys in girls bathrooms and boys in girls sports as a positive, not a negative. Some would also consider the nuclear family having more importance than knowing a person's sexual orientation.

Tennessee’s population grew to more than 7.3 million last year, an uptick of 63,785, according to U.S. Census estimates. The 0.9 percent population growth in the state outpaced the national population, which grew by just 0.5 percent.

The author of the study is correct. People are leaving in droves. (Where is that sarcasm font when I need it?)

A recent study found cities in Tennessee, including Nashville and Knoxville, were among the top destinations that Americans are moving to.

Affordability has increasingly been driving migration decisions and fueling population growth to states in the Southeast and Southwest, with experts noting that factors driving more people to move to Tennessee include the lower living costs and the lack of a state income tax.

Sure seems like a terrible place to live.

I could go on, but I think you get the point. I would encourage others to read the Newsweek article (I didn't click on the other 2 links). Picking out one quote which the rest of the article obliterates is cherry picking at its best. And I would recommend your post (and those quoting it like mine) be moved out of the recruiting forum and into the political forum.
The reason it was posted in this very thread is just a sarcastic way to entice David to play for the Buckeyes...nothing more.

Ohio State should make their best offer and hold firm knowing there are some major silver linings to not insanely overpaying to match Tennessee.

1. You don’t disrupt your current RB room (and roster in general) with someone making more money than everyone else. Jackson and West are solid and both have at least two years of eligibility remaining.

2. You don’t overpay at a position that has historically proven to not be worth that type of investment.

3. You free up extra resources to invest across the roster at other positions of need.

4. It’s highly possible Tennessee crashes and burns and has a new head coach in the very near future. Ohio State might get another chance in this recruitment soon.

It seems highly likely Tennessee goes full desperation mode and throws whatever money it takes to get DGG and his family to overlook the many, many advantages Ohio State offers over Tennessee - I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say it’s literally everything outside of money and maybe immediate playing time.

If Ohio State lands DGG, awesome, he’s probably going to be really good, and trust the coaches on the locker room cohesion and resource management.

If DGG chooses the desperation giant bag of money at Tennessee, shrug and appreciate the silver linings. Tennessee has a way of making things stupid and much easier to appreciate walking away from.

Same here

If it's really about development and good enough money then OSU should clearly be in the lead.

If it's more about the upfront money and development in the backseat then UT should be the destination.

He will get both wherever he goes but which one matters more? (and I have nothing but respect for the kid and his family if it's the upfront money. It's the smart play)

Would it be considered negative recruiting if tOSU had DGG sit down and watch the recent UT v tOSU playoff game? Maybe show clips of tOSU DL pounding the snot out of their QB? Plus holding UT's RB to under 80 yards? Guess that would depend on which side of the field one sits on.....

Would it be negative recruiting to point out that DGG’s huge deal with Tennessee directly reduces their ability to surround him with quality players?

Point to the recruiting class he’s in, point to the current players on the team. Ohio State invests across its roster to compete for national championships. Tennessee sells out for a handful of players each year and crosses their fingers that will be enough as they hope for the best with the rest of their roster.

Would it be negative recruiting to point to the strength and conditioning results in college and projecting through to the NFL? Ohio Stater literally has more than twice as many players in the NFL right now (80-39).

Would it be negative recruiting to point out that Tennessee’s head coach will likely get fired with another year or two of highly likely mediocre results?

Outside of the money in question, choosing Ohio State is the easiest decision in the world. Can Tennessee throw enough money at the family to make them look past everything else? I guess we’ll see.

Also, interesting timing on this announcement considering that an Adidas deal at Tennessee is reportedly a big part of the financial discussion.
