Title Game: Ky -6.5 vs Kansas (ov/un 137.5) Monday, CBS

How the fuck does someone let a unibrow get that out of control? I'm amazed every time I see it. I almost feel bad for the kid, except that he's made more money than I have and he's probably never had a full-time job.

Props to Kentucky, they looked ridiculous in the first half. Really hoped Kansas would complete the comeback, but when you dig a hole that deep...
Pretty sure at this point it's just an angle for promotion. But yeah, I'm not hanging with anyone in HS without letting my buddy know that it's getting out of control.

Now that it's there, well, he's done it. He's made it big despite that horrid line of hair and in fact will somehow benefit from it. America.

I hate Kentucky and coach Cal.

He's the equivalent of me winning multiple championships on the NCAA college football by creating a bunch of guys and giving them 99 ratings. It doesn't mean I'm any good at the game, but I surely know how to execute with the best players.

Barkley mentioned it postgame, but it's worth repeating ... John Wooden wasn't running a bunch of scrubs out there.

I have to give UK some credit, all those high school All Americans did play as a team out there. Nobody really looked like a ball hog, and they all played defense. It goes without saying, tonight the better team won.

Cal really did assemble about as solid a TEAM as put together in recent memory. PG (Teague), Center (Davis), Wing (Kidd-Gilchrist), Shooters (Lamb, then Miller off bench), Length/Size/Toughness-guy (Jones). It was well-recruited and formed and he didn't hamper the players' natural talents with overbearing structure- something I beg for more coaches to do.

Also for those that complain about Matta's short bench, go ahead and look at the box scores late in the tournament, not just this year, but for just about every Final Four. Most teams barely reach into the rotation at this point in the year. It's largely about forming your best 5 up to this point and then matching them up with the other team's best 5.

Wooden and Calipari are very similar ... Wooden had his money man too...

:topic:
Wooden is universally considered a great human being, and I'm not disputing that. His gentility and grace, his humility and kindness, are well established. The next insult I hear directed at John Wooden will be the first insult I've ever heard directed at John Wooden. And this story isn't meant to insult the man, either.

But facts are facts. And the fact is, Wooden was at UCLA for 15 years, from 1948-63, without winning an NCAA championship. And then from 1964-76 he won 10 titles in 12 years. What changed? Sam Gilbert's involvement changed.

Gilbert, a UCLA alum and wealthy contractor, opened his home and apparently his wallet to the Bruins, from Lew Alcindor to Lucius Allen to Bill Walton. When the best Bruins left school, Gilbert represented them as an agent, which is one of the most brazen unpunished NCAA violations in college sports history: Rich booster spoils the best players on campus, then becomes their agent. And the coach doesn't stop it. Doesn't even know about it.

Maybe Wooden didn't know. But his attention to detail was legendary. Wooden literally monitored how his players tied their shoes and how they wore their socks ... but he didn't know Gilbert -- the players called him "Papa Sam" -- was giving them cash and clothes and cars before becoming their agent? Maybe. More likely, Wooden didn't want to know. That's how he slept at night, and that's how he won 10 national titles.

Give me a fuckin' break. Greg Doyel writes an article accusing Wooden thirty years after the fact, and now Wooden = Calipari?
Doyel's trolling when it is timely, like always.

Wooden's helper is pretty common knowledge, as is Calipari's.

I agree with this.
I think Coach Cal learned something from the John Wall year. That team was all showboating and minimal defense (except for Wall).

With this year, he placed defense first and the results were excellent.

Interesting to see how analysts are projecting Anthony Davis. His frame and length remind me alot of Marcus Camby. The difference I think is Camby had a more polished offensive game while Davis is much more athletic. Fran Friscilla said he reminded him of a poor man's Bill Russell

To me, Davis is the whole package. He can shoot facing the basket from mid range, to the 3 point line. He has a hook shot, plays defense, rebounds, and can handle the ball. Undisputed number one pick in the NBA draft.
