ORLANDO, Fla. ? Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has heard all about the "Heisman jinx." He even saw it firsthand last January, when Ohio State's Troy Smith struggled against the Gators in the national championship game. Nonetheless, Tebow and the ninth-ranked Gators are downplaying the supposed jinx ? Heisman-winning quarterbacks are 5-7 in bowl games since 1980 ? heading into Tuesday's Capital One Bowl against Michigan.

Florida quarterback Tebow wins Sullivan Award

NEW YORK -- Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow added another honor to his collection, winning the 78th James E. Sullivan Memorial Award on Tuesday.

The Florida quarterback, the first sophomore to win the Heisman, had 3,286 yards passing and 32 touchdowns last season. He also ran for 22 touchdowns, becoming the only player in NCAA history to have at least 20 TDs passing and 20 rushing.

The Sullivan Memorial Award is given annually to athletes who possess qualities of leadership, character, sportsmanship and ideals. It is named for the founder of the Amateur Athletic Union, James Sullivan.

I think it's odd that his parents are so religious, but according to what they told Erin Andrews at the Spring game, their first date was the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party". :wink2:
