Tebow's recruitment is his own. It has nothing to do with any other past situation. You do not need to lobby UF's case around here. We know of his connections. We are just happy to be strongly considered by such a promising student athlete...

I agree Alan. Some of the thrown out by G8er were average QBs at best. If QBs thought that highly of the one's mentioned above, there wouldn't be a top program with more than 1 QB on the roster. Dickey? Russell? Guttierez? Come on. Plus, Berlin would only be there a year. Wright is going to start as a RS Frosh (or RS Soph, I can't remember right now). Seriously though. The only situation mentioned that had legit competition for the QB coming in would be Sanchez vs. Booty/Hinds (Leinert will be gone after Matt redshirts this year).

CLASS OF 2006: SPRING 100
By Charles Fishbein Florida Kids Recruiting Columnist
Date: Apr 29, 2005

While there are at least 350 Division 1A prospects in the state of Florida for the Class of 2006, we give you the first look at the top 100, heading into spring practice as well as summer camps and combines throughout the Sunshine State.
Tim Tebow is ranked #2 on this list..........

It seems really strange that we have not offered this kid. He seems to be arguably the best QB in th enation, and fell in love with Tressel's faith. I know we haven't offered any other QBs, but I'm sure many of you were disappointed when you learned we had not actually offered.

I am under the impression that the staff wants to wait to see the other quarterbacks we have targeted at OSU's camp to make a decision.
I am under the impression that you are absolutely correct. Boeckman's progression has given this situation time for consideration.

I agree that they'll probably wait until camp, but if they really want to have a shot at this guy, they probably have to offer before June; a lot of qb's seem to decide by the end of the summer.

I'm no recruiting guru, but from what i've seen from all the ohio qb's (including Hartline), Tebow is clearly the best option...

Tebow is not in a big hurry. In June I believe he'll be in the Phillippines on a mission trip... and from what I've seen he hasn't narrowed it down a whole bunch either. We'd be smart to offer immediately after camp, IMO. I wish they would have extended him a longshot offer a while ago tho. I don't think it would have deterred the OH prospects.

Let me make some the visitors aware of of our recruiting forum policies...

This is a tOSU recruiting forum. We discuss tOSU...not the reasons your respective schools are the best option or the likely choice for a recruit. Throw out a tidbit here or there but do not plan on hijacking these threads to debate the merits of your program.

Take it somewhere else if that is your intention.

Interesting twist. Florida got a verbal today from Snead out of Texas. Snead is one of the best QB in the country. Miami, Texas and OU wanted him bad. It will be interesting to see if Tebow backs off of Florida because of this. I don't think he will though :)

Jim Tressel may be the smartest man in college football. Right now Tim Tebow and his father are preparing themselves for the summer of Tim's senior year of high school, which includes a life changing mission to the Phillipines. Practically everyone else in the country is all over Tim. Not Jim Tressel. Coach Tressel shows up at these families houses and talks about family. Very smart in itself but coach T is sincere. Coach Tressel's faith has followed him everywhere in his life as it most likely does with everyone whom is devout in their faith including the Tebow family.

A lot of guru's and people "in the know" overlook the quality of life issues for most student athletes which probably makes sense due to the fact that most student athletes today are much more athlete than student. For those of you with children out there how much respect would you have for the coach or recruiter that comes in and tells you how your child will be "used" at their school? Jim Tressel talks about how your child will develop in the Ohio State family and what to expect after football.

Make no mistake playing football is the key to this whole recruiting fiasco but its the intangibles that will most likely draw a family like Tim's to where he ends up signing. They have to know everyone wants Tim on their team right now! I know that we would like Tim in our (Buckeye)family. Coach Tressel has undoubtedly told Tim his intentions. We may not know for months what that is. From everything I've heard and read Tim Tebow is a first class person first and unbelievable athlete second. Read the scout interview again. How many high school kids in Tim's position answer direct questions "Yes sir," anymore?

All I can say is its a guarantee that Tim succeeds and I'll be tuning in to root for him wherever he signs. I hope its here but if not I'll watch him every saturday.
