Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

I'm not sure why anybody is surprised by this. First, Meyer doesn't seem like the type to fire an assistant after only one season. For as much as some of us might want that in this case, once you step away from the internet and try to think of the real world it was always going to be long odds of that happening. Second, how else would he ever answer a question like that? It's not like he's gonna come out and say, "Heck yeah I'm gonna fire somebody I just wasn't sure when to bring it up."
Yes all true. In addition, Meyer may not see the problem as the same one/ones that are seen amongst some of the fanbase.

Its true that many of Ohio State fanbase were not happy with play calling of Tim Beck this season. Then the Mich St. game just added fuel to the (dumpster) fire. The weather sure did not help our cause and we did not play Elliot enough to help us win. So we lost.... and that was that.
But lets say, had we won against MSU, beaten Iowa in the Big - and were victorius over Alabama, would we be sitting here reading about 9 underclassmen jumping ship to he NFL? I sure don't think so....... They All, would have waited until the Natl -championship was over, to decide their fate. Maybe Bosa, Bell, Elliot, and Thomas would have gone for sure. But I think the rest would have stayed. We really don't know what triggered the rest to leave also, but my gut feeling was because of Beck and all that happened in the end. It just happens to make you think - If things would have gone down different where would be today.

I had a feeling, didn't want to say it, but it felt like the final nudges that gave them the final push were 1: all of their friends were leaving 2: they lost a little faith in the coaching staff (Beck sticking around at OC, and a DC they loved was leaving). But firing Beck could have also lead to the unknown which would be the same result. I guess not hiring Beck in the first place would have been the real solution.

Doubtful. Warriner will have 4? new offensive linemen. He will want to be on the field. Perhaps we should put a grad assistant in the booth to explain to Beck what he's not seeing.

To say nothing of the fact that his record as a position coach isn't exactly stellar either.
We don't have the JT, Cardale, Brax insurance anymore... need the QB coach to do work grooming a #2. And probably fast because I'm not sure JT stays after 2016.

Maybe that IS what beck has been doing, we can all dream and there would at least be some positive. He walks into his new position and thinks to himself, "I can ignore the current qb and play calling, can't mess those things up based on existing talent. I'm going to get next years qb ready." Not likely I know but it would start to turn around the dumpster fire of a hire thus far. Hopefully the guy can somehow turn it around. I'd be shocked if urban isn't looking over becks shoulder constantly from here out as he lets beck ride out the 2 year agreement.

2 problems
1: Why would he ignore 2 star qbs when one has 2 years left and one had 3 years left, while beck only had a 2 year contract?
2: I wish he would have ignored them, had he done that perhaps they would have performed to 2014 levels. Nope, I'm confident he meddled in their technique and set them back years in their development.
