Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

Yep, there's no way you can watch the first 6 minutes of Urban's presser today and come to any other conclusion than Beck is done, and Urban's just trying to fill the gap until the end of the year and not embarrass him too much in the process. He's not relishing this, but I'm pretty confident after watching this that he knows what needs to be done and will do it when the time is right.

Go to 15:25 of this, where a reporter starts a question by pointing out that Saturday was "the fourth time you've been shut out in the first quarter, five times you haven't had a touchdown in the first quarter", and Urban just looks down at the podium and shakes his head, and talks about how it's part of "his evaluation [he's] going through right now, and after the season in great detail. Just disappointed, it's certainly not part of our history and gotta figure out why."

Get ready to put "former" in front of this thread title..

Wariner to OL only. Take it or leave it. Give him the same money.
Hire a full time OC.
I am sure Beck is being victimized but it is a tough business.
Delays will be poisonous.

After hearing some of the players' rumblings, and seeing the tweet from Weber, I feel like there's no other way around it. There's no fixing this issue, and given his track record, I absolutely agree that this is the route they need to take.

Yeah, it's only one loss, but it's an entire season of mismanagement and inconsistency. College football is a ruthless game, and if you aren't getting the job done, you will ultimately be replaced.

I agree with everything you said besides Beck being victimized... he had the most loaded offense perhaps EVER returning. Yet the first time we play someone who can stand up to us we go for 130 yards which I'm not sure when the last time we did that. The expression has been rampant but "Ferrari has been crashed" here... Nebraska fans saw this and now WE see this. He needs to go now.

I also never liked how Beck once he assumed play calling against Indiana or perhaps Maryland made it clear that he wasn't responsible for the duds that were layer in the non conference. I found it very selfish and not a team move whatsoever. You combine that with Joe Burrows having issues with him when they were recruiting him to Nebraska and maybe no one likes this guy?

As for my comments saying I only see one probable loss next year. We have a beast schedule which includes Nebraska, Wisconsin and Northwestern. Not to mention a damn solid non conference with Oklahoma and Tulsa/Bowling Green (both will give us trouble defensively). What I meant was Oklahoma probably is a loss but we have great odds to win In all other games.

Wisconsin won't have a QB or recievers and lose a defense

Nebraska may be solid but it's at home (probably at night too)

Northwestern loses a shit ton and it's home

PSU has their running back but lose a ton up front on defense and lose Hackensack

Scum lose backers and some lineman. Oh and they may have Shane Morris as QB

Indiana- lose QB and RB and up front on defense

MSU lose a shit load up front, both WRs and Connor Cook.

Rutgers and Maryland - hahahahaha ok...

We lose a ton as well but to me it looks like everyone will too. Nebraska is the only team that looks like may be a surprise due to returning players. I trust our abilities to replenish and continue our dominance of the B1G just not Oklahoma

I doubt Beck is fired. Really doubt that.
In 2013, BuckeyeNation needed a scalp for the poor performance of the defense, and Everett Withers was that scalp. Withers conveniently found a HC job at an FCS school (James Madison), Urban hired Chris Ash and Larry Johnson, and the defense improved greatly.

I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar happen to Tim Beck at the end of this season.

Not after one season. I think you guys are setting yourself up for disappointment, that's all.

I said something similar in another thread. And I fully agree. Its almost a nice way of getting fired or being forced to resign. Pat him on the back as he goes to coach at some FCS school and then hire a creative up and coming OC who isn't afraid to open the playbook

So just curious what do you think is going to happen next year? Beck gets the Manny Diaz treatment... gets paid but isn't on the football staff?

Urban waiting to mess around on Defense is due to him not being involved in that side. This is his baby, this is the offense. The only way I see Beck back is if Smith leaves and Urban slides Beck to the WRs (not that he's had any success with those).

Re: Tim Beck, Ohio State’s new co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, has signed a preliminary deal with the university that will earn him at least $525,000 a year until April 2017, according to his contract obtained by Eleven Warriors on Friday afternoon.

Just sayin': It looks like Beck is under contract through next season. I'm sure eating the $525K next year would be not be that big of deal Ohio State; however, I wonder if Meyer made any personal promises/commitments to beck (i.e. we'll definitely keep you for the 2 years) when he was hired, etc.
