Tim Beck (HC Coastal Carolina)

This is definitely fair. If you did a comparison of all 22 starters on field for each team, you'd end up selecting more Clemson starters, IMO.

However, there's nothing anybody can rationally say, that excuses throwing the ball 21 of 27 times to open the game. There's nothing that excuses the amount of 5 wide sets we utilized when 3 of the 5 receivers were former HS RB's and poor route runners.

I agree with others, in that this year our personnel was limited in terms of playmakers. But that is more reason to rely heavily on the power run game. What they tried to manufacture against Clemson was legit insanity....it's really not even defensible. The fact that when questioned by the media, Meyer said "throwing 21 of 27 times to start the game was NOT part of the game plan" just reaffirms the disconnect between Beck and Meyer IMO.

Meyer deserves some criticism for allowing this situation to manifest, but there are a lot of good options available right now....including Kevin Wildon seemingly on the back burner. I'm already fired up for 2017 to start....
Well stated.

A teeny tiny pet peeve: a lot of people see empty backfield and automatically assume there are 5 WR on the field, which is rarely the case for the Buckeyes (11 or 21 personnel usually depending on how you count H-Backs)

I feel like you and Thump are arguing separate ideas of talent. Clemson was more talented in that their players were performing up to their potential and being put in a position to succeed. What Mili is arguing, and I agree with, is they had no advantage based on raw ability. Our players have the same upside, if not better, overall than Clemson's. Is that so hard to believe? Did we not all just witness a minor league NFL team in terms of talent struggle to find any offensive consistency against severely overmatched opponents like Hawaii, NIU, Indiana, and Illinois? So why is it a surprise that a talented team like Clemson could blow us out without having a significant talent advantage?

Read my previous post where I said both teams are close to equal, with Clemson having the slight advantage, especially on offense. I also added that game flow can affect the final score along with talent level. I'm not surprised one bit.

Try to stay with me. I'm not interested in rating "potential." I'm not talking about last year, next year, or 2 years from now. I'm concerned with how teams stack up directly against each other and we had an up close look at it on NYE.

To predict your next rebuttal, obviously coaching and game planning/scheme played a huge role in how the game ended up. But, being completely IMPARTIAL, would you take any of OSU's offensive skill players over Clemson's, save Samuel? I don't think I would.

Is there any news or tread-worthy rumors about him being gone or anything? I am frustrated that nothing seems to be brewing as of yet besides us frustrated fans opinions.
I see that you are relatively new here. BP is a very relaxed place. If there's news, someone will post it here. Just don't expect anything with Sabanesque speed or ego. We have a coach who likes to play the chessboard and he is going to think carefully before he does anything.

That's because they are a bunch of homers.

Have we ever beat someone by 31 and you thought that team was more talented?
Again...Armstrong got better in 2 years after Beck. JT has gotten worse in 2 years with Beck. Ohio State is as talented as Clemson. Recruiting rankings usually aren't that far off. I see kids with a lot of talent and athleticism not being coached up or put into position to succeed. With Herman at OC do your think the Bucks lose 31-0 on Saturday ?

It's kinda semantics though.....within our first 27 plays, we had many plays with 4 wideouts (Brown, Samuel, McClaurin, Victor/Hill, and then motioned Weber to the bottom of formation).

That's not 21 or 12.....we broke a lot of tendencies, and played to our absolute weaknesses in doing so.

All due respect, but, you're not implying Saban rushes and doesn't think things through.. are you?

IMHO, UFM should act swiftly and let our current players who have lost trust in the signal callers and recruits who watched that horse abortion of a game all know: that kind of performance won't be tolerated at Ohio State in Urbans program.

Isn't it? They still have a game to play.
Nope. He took a HC job and in typically douchey Kiffin style, it appears he went back on his word to focus on bammers job ahead. Plus, they already have their replacement in place.

tOSU fans should have some patience. It's easy for us to say "FIRE THEM NOW!!!", but thankfully, Urban will probably take a more methodical approach to it. I don't expect any movement quickly. If it's still mid-february and nothing has happened, I'll start questioning things.

it happened 2 days ago man
With all due respect, do you really think that you know more than the winningest coach in college football? Do you really think that you understand the complexity of weighing up which recruits might be vulnerable, which other coaches might be going (e.g., Joker), who is available?

This is not an exercise in punishment. You fire when the timing is right and you know where you're going. It is hard to believe that Urban Meyer would feel that he understands the entire chessboard in two days.

Saban has had Sarkisian hired and getting ready. The handover was already underway. The situations are not even comparable.
