Greetings,
Husker fan here and I came here just out of interest in your fan base's opinion of Tim Beck. It's stark in its similarly to the Beck Era at NU.
To give you some insight into his promotion, it came much like the myriad of others under Bo. Following the 2010 Season, he was promoted from within to shock of the base. This became a trend for us of internal promotions and no name hires through out the years, but I digress.
Becks installed a pseudo-spread option offense with random elements of more traditional power I-formation, but with speed in play calling like Oregon. We never had an identity and the play calling was that of a bipolar melomanaic. When something worked, he would magically never call it again. He always rambled on for years about multiplicity in the scheme and he either believed this to a fault, resulting in wanting to always run something else to keep the defense guessing or he is just completely inept.
His last year was the most telling. Coming out of Spring, the narrative was a reduced playbook so the team would finally be good at something. This resulted in more confusion, between a more traditional FB in the I, but still falling back to shotgun when things got bad.
Current state of things, the base is still divided over the firing of Bo. I won't get into that, but I bring it up to simply point out even those sore over the firing wouldn't call for a return of Beck. It was a unverisal WTF when he landed at OSU. With that, I wish you well and screw Iowa.
